Amidst the cluttered shelves filled with artifacts, journals, books, and trinkets that had been collected over the years, Chris Hatfield's lab was beginning to resemble that of Dr. Daniel Jackson, his mentor. And sitting among all of these items at a table just as cluttered Chris was cataloging artifacts. He was still looking at the one he had stopped to work on the power shortage mission. Those strange symbols still boggled his mind.

He already had copied them down in his notebook and had retrieved his magnifying glass for closer inspection. He was dictating into his voice recorder he brought back from his last trip home."The artifact seems to predate many found around the digsite, however theres something about it that is familiar. I cannot quite make out what the last few sections are due to the erosion occured from a seemingly long period of time. This could possibly be an item that was once worshipped, but...by whom." His voice echoed not only in the room but also in the man's mind, only deepening his thoughts. He peered at the object a while longer.

Chris continued to narrate his own thoughts as he continued to examine the artifact, "It appears to be well used, carbon dating puts it around several hundred years old, the carvings on the stone seem to resemble ancient, however I cannot be certain. It could be a very obscure dialect, but it will require further consideration and research to be certain."

Cara was in the process of tying up loose ends, making sure she did everything she wanted to do here before she left. She thought of leaving a list of things to do, but this was easier. Cara knew what needed to be done with a mental checklist in her head. Currently she was headed for the section of the city where the social scientist liked to do their work. She had some sort of contraption that had been mistaken for some sort of useful technology, but it was useless in that effect. So she was bringing it to someone who might have some clue. It was found around some of the dig sites that had been occurring around the city.

Someone obviously broke protocol bringing this thing to her department, for all artifacts were to remain with the Archaeologist until they deemed it worthy of other departments. Someone probably just got a bit overzealous with their discovery. “Hello,” she said announcing her presence, ”I thought I’d bring this by. It’s some artifact that ended up in my department by mistake. I didn’t want anyone to think it was some sort of decoration and not bring it by at all. It could be some important discover or something of that nature.”

She set the artifact down on a somewhat less occupied piece of desk

Chris looked up at the sound of the voice, "Hey," he said, pressing the pause button on the recorder. He resituated his glasses and took the artifact from her examining it, "Yeah this from first glance resembles what Im working on over here." He set the artifact down and moved towards the coffee pot he had set up in the corner of the lab. "So you are sure about this? Going home I mean." He motioned to the chair across from his desk, offering it to her to sit. "Would you like a cup of tea?"

Chris wasnt sure himself if he would ever be able to fully adjust to life back on earth, knowing what he does about the galaxy, or the Stargate Programme, he tried it once, as Deputy Director of the CIA, but he just couldnt handle sitting behind a desk all day long reading about the problems they had on earth. All while knowing that there were more larger problems in the galaxy. He was suprised when he heard Cara's decision to return home, and he was partially relieved, and yet part of him held a bit of concern. Cara wasnt the type to throw in the towel. There was something deeper going on and he could sense it.
