After about two and a half weeks on the USS Phoenix, one of the very few "spare" ships that Earth had left over to deliver supplies and new personnel to the various Stargate Program bases, Ian thought he was going to go mad. Surely, there had to be a quicker way to get to the Delta Site. By now, they were sure to have found or at least borrowed a ZPM from somewhere right? Apparently, the answer was yes. However, the discovery of new technology on the Delta Site meant that most, if not all, of the ZPM's power needed to be spared to test it all out. Turns out, this little bit of "technology" they had discovered was an Ancient city. Fancy that.

Ian couldn't help but admit it, he was rather excited about returning to the Delta Site, even it turned out that many of his familiar faces would not be there. Last he heard of O'Malley, they were having a drink in some pub in God-Only-Knows-Where in the UK. In fact...that may have been the name of the pub...hm. Anywho, the fact was that O'Malley was back on Earth and it did not look like he had any intention of returning. In fact, Ian could have said the same thing about a month ago. Then again, circumstances change.

Take this very moment for example. Here he stood on some arid planet with a bunch of grunts as they started unloading an unholy amount of supplies from the Phoenix. Apparently, the City was highly valuable and the location was to stay secret. In case the battlecruiser had been followed, they stopped on an outer planet with a gate in order to make the rest of the journey. My how things had changed since his day. Honestly, it would have been nice if that hadn't made them sit out in the middle of a bloody desert for nearly an hour until everything unloaded. It was quite hot and bright. Luckily, he had his sunglasses on, but he made the unfortunate decision of wearing a long sleeve shirt over his tee. As opposed to letting down appearances like some of the others who had untucked their coattails, he simply rolled up his sleeves and continued to wait.

Joining them amidst the shiny, metal crates were several military personnel of varying nations as well as some clearly civilian participants, just like himself. However, he noted the rather green tint to their skin. Something told him these folks had only gone through a Stargate a handful of times before. Ian smirked to himself slightly and readjusted his USAF-issued bag as the event horizon appeared.

"Personnel first, cargo to follow," the commanding officer ordered, and he began to shuffle through the gate with the dozen or so newbies. He remembered when he was given that title. It was so long ago. As he stepped through, he wondered what familiar faces he would run into...if any.

Moments later, Ian found himself in a room that was completely unfamliar. Far more open and spacious, he noticed the clearly Ancient architecture and omnipresent "glow" around him. It was definitely different than the cold, grey rectangle they called a "gate room" before the original Delta Site had been destroyed. Either way, turning around, he walked backwards slightly to watch the rest of the group step through. Most gasped as if they had just emurged from being underwater. Ian grinned and stepped off the platform to make room for the newbies and all of the cargo. Removing his sunglasses, he glanced around the room, trying to pick out a famliar face. Either Frank or Troy, really. He knew neither of them could ever be separated from this place.

Morgan was biting her nails. A bad habit to be sure, but she wasn't doing it on purpose. She was bored and her nails were bugging her. She never was the type to keep long nails, she always kept them short. Morgan was waiting at the gate, waiting for the new supplies to come in, especially the medical supplies. She had been trying to make sense of the infirmary since she got there, not too long ago. Everyone basically knew their duties and went about doing them, even though they were a bit short staffed, seeing as Major Logan was missing, and other medics were apart of various offworld teams. Currently the nurses outnumbered the doctors and they didn't let them forget it.

She heard briefly the one of the new personnel was a doctor, but other than that she was left int he dark. In her mind she pictured herself standing there with a sign with the new doctor's name on it, like at some airport, but thankfully she wasn't about to embarrass herself like that.

The gate activated, finally, and people came though. Honestly, Morgan was more interested in the medical cargo that was to come though after the people. Someone caught her eye though, definite eye candy. Morgan was sly about it, and did not give herself away. He wasn't dressed like the military types, which was a plus in her book. She had nothing but trouble with the military boys on the base so far. He was dressed fairly normal, not even in BDUs. She could tell he was a cutie even with his sunglasses on.

Before he could get her eyeing him, the cargo was starting to come though. Morgan quickly gathered her laptop, which held the inventory list, other's in the same position as she for their own department's supplies where doing the same. Her supplies were easy enough to spot. All medical supplies were stamped with the official medical symbol. As Morgan was starting to mark off what was there with what was listed on her list, she couldn't help but glance at the newcomer she spotted. He was looking around, first at the city and then at the people around.

He took off his sunglasses to get a better view she supposed, when she spotted some art on his bare wrist, the same familiar symbol that was on the medical supplies was tattoo on his wrist. Ah, so this was the new doctor. Morgan considered herself lucky to be a doctor too. Perhaps she should introduce herself. She walked up to him casually, looking at her list as if she were confused about something.

"Hmm, this is odd, I don't seem to have you listed in my inventory, are you sure you were supposed to come on this shipment?" she asked him, making the obvious connection between the the symbol on the supplies and the symbol on his wrist.

"Do you mind being a bit more careful with that?" the old CMO in him blurted out in his mildly rolling accent. The Scotsman had spent a decent amount of time around others that it wasn't nearly as strong as it was in his youth. None the less, his accent was unmistakable, though definitely more understandable than other Scottish doctors he had met. Not that he was pointing any elbows at the Atlantis Expedition or anything. Either way, it would seem that old habits died hard in all cases, including that of former CMOs and unbearably clumsy military men. "Try to leave at least some of the gene therapy vials intact, please."

The two soldiers rolled their eyes and waited for the gate to shut down so they could go back to their ship. Clearly, they did not like the idea of either being taxi drivers or FedEx delivery folk. He moved over to the crate to make sure no precious liquids were dripping from the bottom or anything. At the same time, he heard someone speak to him. Looking up, he saw a very pretty blonde woman approach with a laptop in her arms. Automatically, she had his full attention. Her comment about the shipment confused him for a moment. Was he technically part of the shipment? Glancing back at the crate, he saw the winged staff with two snakes intertwined, the universal symbol for medicine, clearly marked on the side. For a moment, he was about to ask her what she meant, until he caught the same famliar symbol on his wrist. He laughed lightly, looking down at his tattoo.

"Ah, you've caught me red handed," he said, raising his hands in feigned surrender. His eyes never left her face though. His face felt funny...he was smiling for the first time in a while. Well, that with the combination of his ruddy, golden brown stubble poking around the corners of his mouth. "I'm a stowaway disguised as important medical supplies. How ever did you figure it out?"

It was when he spoke that really got her going. The incredible Scottish accent just made her melt on the inside. She had always has a thing for European accents, especially from the British Isles. She practically mouthed "Oh my god!' before she had the sense to pull herself together. For heaven's sake, she was a professional dammit, now was not the time to get all googly eyed over some guy, who was increadable handsome and with the hot accent. Oh who was she kidding. She was being ridiculous. If he noticed what she was doing, he'd probably think she was some.....smitten nurse. And not the doctor she was.

But she did laugh, she played along anyway, because she couldn't help herself. She was digging a hole and it would probably end up in China, or what ever was at the other side of this planet.

"Ah, you've caught me red handed, I'm a stowaway disguised as important medical supplies. How ever did you figure it out?"

"Well, for one, you've got a terrible disguise, you're too noticeable." she joked around as if she was seriously joking. "Doctor Morgan Fawkes, MD. You kinda have to differentiate around her. So many people with the title of Doctor." she introduced her self, hold her hand out to shake.

Ian laughed at her stark analysis of his "disguise" and shook his head as if at his own folly for not disguising himself well enough. "And this is why I would have never made it in the military."

He found it extremely refreshing to speak to someone who did not refer to him as 'sir' or 'doctor' right off the bat, though that all changed shortly after her introduction. Ah, so she was one of the ones who had taken his place. There was no telling how long she had been here, though he wouldn't wager very long. She was several years younger than him, about the age when he started at the SGC. She must have sped through her residency wherever she was before here. Probably some American prodigy-child who could perform a full fledged surgery by age 12. Not that he was much for stereotypes or anything. It was just common with his prior experience that those who were accepted into the program so young were very, very intelligence and exceptional.

"In that case, Dr. Ian Clark, MD," he replied, shaking her hand with a warm smile. It was nice to have such a warm welcome back to the Delian Galaxy, even if it wasn't by one of the Base Commanders. He mentally reminded himself to give Troy hell later on about that. But, he was so focused on the now and the woman in front of him. "Yes, it is a bit confusing at the start with so many kinds in one place. You get used to it after a while." Glancing back down at the crate, he noticed the torn packaging tape and seals, certain that she would do the same. Oops.

"Oh, I did that, by the way," he said, pointing to the torn tape on several of the crate with a sheepish grin and a shrug. It was a long flight and he was absolutely dying to get a sneak peek at the new toys for the Delta Site. He used to be the first one to touch anything with that symbol on it and he knew he would have freaked out to see any sort of seal broken before his approval. "It's an old habit of mine and it was a dreadfully dull two weeks. I hope you don't mind terribly."

Well, at least he seemed to be of good nature. His smile was warm and pleasing, he looked a little scruffy with his beginnings of a beard, but, it suited him. "In that case, Dr. Ian Clark, MD," he introduced himself. Often when she met a new person, she would mentally try to guess his name, but this time she was a bit too distracted. At the back of her mind, a light bulb went off. His name was familiar to her and Morgan thought about it for a moment. She was still going over the medical history of everyone on the expedition and she has already gone over the files from the first year. Ones she remembers being signed off by one Dr. Ian Clark, for she had a skill of deciphering doctor’s scrawl. ”Oh, yes, you’re Dr. Ian Clark!” she exclaimed as if it should have been obvious to her before now, ”Sorry, I’ve just been elbow deep in all the medical files, trying to familiar myself with them all. I’ve seen your name on the earlier ones.” she then realized that she hadn’t let go of his hand yet and promptly did so.

"Oh, I did that, by the way, it's an old habit of mine and it was a dreadfully dull two weeks. I hope you don't mind terribly." he then brought her attention towards the unsealed parts of the supplies and chucked softly. ”Well, if everything is still there, I don’t care. I know how boring the trip can be, I’m still recovering myself. But on the other hand, the nurses might pitch a fit.” she continued checking things off her list. She had walked backwards slightly, and at the same time a young marine knocked into her, coping a feel but being sly about it. ”Sorry Dr. Foxy, didn’t see you there.” he said in passing as he walked off again. But Morgan still called out, ”If you still want your testicles intact next time you come in for a physical I wouldn’t try that again Corporal. The young Corporal turned to stare at her in shock, before stumbling over someone else, both of them stumbling to the floor.

Morgan turned back to Ian, and she could feel her cheeks turning red as she smiled with embarrassment. She looked around, anywhere but at him. She eyed her jacket where she had left it, so she traveled over to wear it was and put in on. She loved this jacket, it displayed her country’s flag, and it stood out in the sea of red white and blue of the American flag. Below the Canadian flag was the medical symbol patch she had sewn to her jacket. ”So, my inventory is done. Are you finding yourself a room right away or did you want to see the infirmary? I have to head there with all the supplies. We let the grunts take supplies up last time and we ended up with leaky nitrous oxide canisters. It’s not something we care to laugh about anymore.”

Ian was thoroughly bemused when she recognized him, or at least his name, from the medical files. He did not think of himself as much of a Delta Site legend, seeing as his time here was brief and O'Malley was probably much more memorable during his time here. Nonetheless, her enthusiasm was very refreshing. So many here did not share much of the same spirit. In fact, he used to have quite a livelier personality, but given recent events, there seemed to be a slight air of tiredness that rugged at the growing crows feet around his eyes and the worry wrinkles in between his brows. Beyond that, and the desperate need to shave (or not...he kind of liked the slight scruff, but not whe it got too out of hand), it was clear that life had aged him slightly. Or at least, he felt that way.

"If it's Louisa you're referring to," he grinned, "Don't worry too much about her fits. She spent most of her years working on the Alzheimer's unit in an assisted living facility before joining the program. To this day, I still think she prefers the silent and near dead to anything that speaks coherently. It's nothing personal." He winked slightly at her about that. Not in a dirty way, or at least he now hoped she didn't. It was just a 'thing' he did as a sort of 'between-you-and-me' sort of thing. However, there was a slight bit of color in her face now. Oops. He was just about to tone it down a bit when she was bumped by one of the marines. Just as he was opening his mouth to tell the rude boy off, Dr. Fawkes spoke up. It seemed this kitten had claws.

"I couldn't have said that better myself. You're a natural around here," he grinned. It wasn't often that the female staff had the backbone to stand up to these men. Most of his younger nurses during his time were all paired up with young enlisted men, which lead to total distraction in his infirmary when they would be so 'injured'. He swore some of them inflicted pain on each other just so their buddy could go see his lover. Oh, to be young and incredibly stupid.

"I'm sure you had a bunch of laughs at the time, though," he chided, laughing. He remembered those follies around the infirmary...which reminded him...he had no idea where the infirmary was now! "I'd be glad to give you a hand. Apparently, Troy is preoccupied and I can always catch up with him later to figure out where I'll live. Lead the way."

As the prepared to gather the crates onto moving dollies, Morgan slid her jacket on and he quickly noted the new design, very impressed. It would seem that new patches were required even on the doctor's jackets, much like the military BDUs. His eyes fell on a red and white flag with a leave in the middle. Ah, Canadian. Not American. Good thing he caught that quickly, otherwise he would have completely embarrassed himself. His hand reached out and touched the flag on the jacket as he said, "This is new. We didn't have these when I was here last."

You're a natural around here, Ian commented after she made her threats to the young Corporal. Morgan just shrugged at it, ”I’ve dealt with it before. I did my residency at the military hospital in Colorado Springs. It’s defiantly not the first time my last name has been altered like that.”

She continued on, doing her duty, organizing the supplies in a timely fashion. She had to do this job all the time at the military hospital as well, it would be a while until she wasn’t the newbie anymore. It was the price she paid for fast tracking though life. Most doctors her age were still in medical school or just starting their residency. Morgan was in her second year of her fellowship. As well, she was only one of a few female MDs on the base. Most of the women in her department were nurses, always smitten with the young military boys. She hoped that it would reach the point where she would have to flip some army boy on his back to prove that she wasn’t to be messed with. She kept up the appearance of the weak and feeble female, and kept the truth her secret weapon. That she had been trained in Chinese Martial Arts since she was 6 by a Master from China, her adoptive father.

Morgan was happy that Ian decided to accompany her to the infirmary with all the supplies. Most likely was wanted to see the facilities they had available. "This is new. We didn't have these when I was here last." he commented as he touched the arm of her jacket. Morgan glanced down at where his hand was reaching for, and she gulped silently, ”Um, I think they took a page out of Atlantis’ book, representing and all. The symbol, I added myself, adds character.”

Then as if she remembered suddenly, Morgan looked back at her laptop and saw a particular item and what box it would be in. She looked at all their boxes and found a certain one, ”I’m surprised you didn’t see this,” she commented as she opened the box and started digging around. Ian was the only new addition to the medical staff so there was only one set of uniforms in the box. She grabbed the jacket and pulled it out, shaking it a bit. On the sleeve in the same spot as hers, was a blue and white flag of Scotland, the Saint Andrew’s cross. ”See, you get one too,” she handed him the jacket. Morgan closed the box back up and then started off in the general direction of where the infirmary was.
