Episode Three: Blind Leap

Major Harrison's team was assembled in the cargo bay of the Lentac. Doctor Stockdale had of course submitted to the use of the ship, not that he had much of a choice. The science crew that had been working on the carious systems of the ship were also coming along, as they were the ones most familiar with the layout and functions of the ship.

"For those of you who don't know, Colonel Walker is MIA," he addressed the group. "Our job is to find him. You are all now being distributed the battle plan for our mission, which includes your roles." On queue, a Sergeant began handing out briefs to all personnel assembled. "You immediate supervisor, if you don't know already, is listed on the top of the first page of your briefs. Go to them with any questions, concerns, or problems. Follow your chain of command. Any questions?" At the silence, Harrison said, "Let's move!"

Harrison took his seat in the captain's chair and said, "Captain, begin flight procedures." Captain Williams confirmed and began his job.

Katrina entered the bridge after patching up O'Neill. She looked around and saw that everyone including herself had serious expression on their faces. She was glad to know that everyone was just as concerned about Walker as she was. Her own personal reasons seemed more justified knowing that she had a good team behind her all the way.

She headed toward the Major to get her current orders.

"Major, sorry for the delay. I made sure that O'Neill was completed dressed and he had enough mobility to be an asset to the team, even though he's fine on his own. Your orders sir?"

Having just come off the back on an eight hour grave-yard shift as Gate Tech, Tommy was not exactly over the moon to be still on duty. Major Harrison has grabbed him for the rescue mission to go after Major Walker, and Tommy's work on the Prometheus made him an ideal choice for space borne operations. Flying an alien vessel, however, was not an area of expertise for him.

He'd been placed in charge of communications and tactical, and was familiarising himself with the control on the terminal when Harrison gave the order to begin final take off procedures. Hoping everyone else was ready; Tommy activated his radio and let the ground crew know the ship was about the launch. They had an Earth-build radio setup down in the cargo hold, and Tommy was hoping to get it setup during their hyperspace jump. Until then, or until someone figured out the alien comms systems, it was all short-range radio transmission.

"Comms and tactical ready." He said, informing the Major.

The ship began to lift off the ground and head toward space. Harrison hit his comm linmk and said, "Attention all hands. Our journey will take approximately three hours. Please do not remove your safety belts until the cruiser makes it into orbit." Cutting off the link, he swiveled toward the Captain and said, "Do your magic ..."

Hyperspace Window


The cruiser had been traveling through hyperspace about twenty minutes now. Harrison looked out the viewport in the room that could best be described as the Captain's lounge or ready room. The amazing things we've come to be able to do these past ten years, he thought to himself, reflecting on his journey and where it played out in the scheme of Stargate Command.

He was brought back to the present by his radio clicking, which he responded to, "Harrison here." The voice on the other end said, "Major, it's Halback. We have some ideas we'd like to see you in person about." The Major replied, "On my way."

All stations had reported in with green lights, and if this ship was ever going to take off, now would be the time. Tommy stood at his console, waiting for the commander to issue flight orders. The Major's voice boomed over the ship's internal PA systems. "Attention all hands. Our journey will take approximately three hours. Please do not remove your safety belts until the cruiser makes it into orbit."

The Major turned to the flight officer. "Do your magic ..." Standing on the next console to Tommy's left was the ship's helmsmen, United States Air Force Captain Brian Williams, who nodded and activated the ship's launch protocols. There was a moment of tension as the ship's engines spun up, and after a few moans, she lifted off and made her way towards orbit.

With the ship safely in hyperspace, Tommy had moved to the cargo hold to try and wire in the Earth built radio system they were planning on using to try to make contact with Major Walker and to co-ordinate the ground operations. Should range radios worked a gem inside the ship, but Doctor Stockdale and his team still hadn't managed to figure out the ship's native communications system. At the moment, Tommy was trying to interface the radio with the ship communication's subsystems, with limited success. They'd be arriving in 90 minutes, and without radio communications, the mission would be over before it started.

Behind him he heard the Major enter to cargo deck and begin conversing Sergeant Halback.

Reeves sat in the cargo bay reflecting all that had happened recently, he had already been transferred from SD-2 into SD-3 and now his new commander has been captured. He and his new fellow comrades were now a part of the rescue party not that he was complaining, he had a sense of earning his pay. Conner looked across the Cargo bay at the others who occupied the room. He grabbed his rifle and jogged across the room and back his legs were cramping up so he exercised them.

Returning to where he was originally seated Conner began to play with his knives, screw socializing. All he thought of was getting allot of shots in at the enemy hopefully most of them head shots. Reeves couldn't help but sigh at how really sad his blood thirst was but whatever it helped.

OOC: Ohh I see... well "Major Harrison" aka Major Robert Walker hasn't logged into the Major Harrison, Captain Deline or Sgt Styles accounts for four days so maybe he's busy with real life. Katrina, your the team XO and an army officer, could you lead the rescue mission?

OOC: That would be Lieutenant Colonel Walker, and yes I have had things going on in real life. And Logan, the post wasn't ignored, just not addressed specifically. I gave orders for the ship to go underway.

Cargo Hold

Major Harrison enterdd the cargo hold and nodded to the rescue party, among which Lieutenant Logan had joined as well. "What's the scoop, Master Sergeant?" he inquired.

Halback spoke up, "With our numbers, if we were able to get this ship landed, then two teams would be best. Of course this isn't going to do any good if we can't get a good reading with low enough radiation levels, and so far no luck there."

Harrison nodded and replied, "OK formalize and assault plan. These are the teams I want:

Turning to Logan, he stated, "Your training since the first off-world mission has been quite impressive. I want you to lead the second team. You may be a medic, but you're still a Marine. If you have any doubts, let me know now."

Conner decided to go take a walk to the infirmary to see how O'Neil was holding, he was probably fine but it wouldn't hurt to check on the guy. To kind of show that they were a team even though Conner hadn't been on it for long. As he got closer to the infirmary he was stopped by a man he hadn't met before but Conner knew that he was of higher rank so he threw a quick half-assed salute to the man. "Sir, you wanted something?"

Staff Sergeant Cross looked at the Sergeant in front of him "No not really I was just wondering where you were headed and why?"
He looked at the lower ranked soldier "By the way the name is Eric Cross, Staff Sergeant Eric Cross."

Conner was sort of confused a senior officer had come over to chat with him, yet then again he'd seen stranger things recently. So Conner answered the Staff Sergeant's questions "My name is Conner Reeves, Sergeant Conner Reeves." traces of deliberate sarcasm could be heard in Conner's voice but it came so naturally Conner didn't realize it.
Then came the second answer to the Staff Sergeant's question "And I am going to the infirmary to see one of my squads members Gordy O'Neil"

Conner saluted again quickly before walking off towards the infirmary not caring whether or not the Staff Sergeant had finished or not. He opened the door and saw Gordy "Hi how are you, mate?"

After confirming the assault plans, Major Harrison headed back toward the bridge. After a minute or so, he hears jogging behind him and turns to see Lieutenant Logan approaching. He stops and waits for her. When she reaches him, he asks, "What's the rush Lieutenant?"
