"HOLY SH--!" Gemma exclaimed as the bright flash of light, sitting bolt upright but with her hands still on the control panel. With her rising heartbeat, there was also a spike in the energy signature throughout the Outpost, resulting in several chain reactions. First, several dozen drones released themselves and fired out into the night sky in a random array. In the control room, the lights that she had been trying to subdue brightened to an almost blinding rate, then went back down to normal, activating a few hidden consoles and allowing them to pop out of the walls. And, of course, the accidental undoing of the lockdown in several parts of the outpost. All of these things seemed to be triggered by the spike in both her adrenaline and her heartbeat.


"Woah, take it easy, I'm here to help." The man seemed familiar. She had to have seen him around the base. It wasn't THAT big. Looking at the velcro on his shirt, that held his name, she recognized it. Hatfield.

"Geez, doc. You almost gave me a heart attack, ever heard about knocking? I could have shot you!” Foster said, trying to calm his own heart, she assumed. It was a pretty shocking ordeal, just to have a man *poof* up in your space. Especially next to a girl who is sitting on the most powerful weapons control system known to mankind. Someone crackled in over the radio, sounding pissed and trying to figure out what just happened with the power spike.

"It's okay..I just got startled. The Iliad beamed Dr. Hatfield down to help out," she said, slowly leaning back into the chair and trying to settle her already frayed nerves. "I'll start shutting down those systems again. Shields have been bumped up to 60% with the diverted power." She hoped that feeding them a bit of good news would help get them off her case. After refocusing on the system readings for a moment, she returned a fraction of her attention to Dr. Hatfield again.

"Here to help? How?"

Medical Jumper Hyppocrates

Kat turned to see the doctor give the dismal news. It was then the ship shook one more time and made everyone hold on. Eyes dashed around the corridor to see if anyone was injured. Then her eyes went back to Cordoy. This wasn’t supposed to be happening. It was supposed to be a secure vessel, new technology to be used in aide of the injured and help save lives. Now, it was becoming a piece of junk. Already near the bridge, the major yelled for an update. ”How’s it coming Porter?!” His voice was solemn, yet inherited a small amount of hope. ”I’ve been able to re-establish some systems like shields but nothing with enough power to start her up and get off the mount…..” he began as another jolt rocked the ship.

Kat held on closing her eyes just reminiscing about a good memory while speaking. "Just do the best you can. I'm sure you'll figure it out. I have faith in you." But did she really? There was only one person who gave her good memories and he was gone. Never had he commed in to find out if she was alright. It worried the medical officer that he was possibly injured somewhere himself and she was unable to get to him. Frak! Looking again to Cordoy, she already knew her decision. ”There’s an escape hatch in the front of the ship designed for the pilots to have a last resort off the vessel. Start gathering the injured and personnel and get your butts off this ship asap.” Staying behind wasn’t what she had in mind, but making sure everyone was off this ship before it went overboard was.

Looking to the side of the ship, she silently prayed. Come on baby just hold together until I get everyone off this ship. Or you could give us a small miracle and start up your engines. The creaking metal almost sounded like a wounded animal. The jumper was slowly beginning to teeter back and forth and eventually would go in the wrong direction. Another hit to the mountain would be certain doom for the crew and those on board.

Come on Porter, give me a miracle.

Wow Cyrus thought as he looked around, this was his first outing to an alien planet and it was cool. Holding the P-90 in hand Cyrus looked at the mountain ranges is no one told him he would probably still believe that he was back on Earth since the mountains looked very much like the ones from Earth. Cyrus was new to well everything Stargate related and so he was silent as he listened to the conversations around him so he could catch up quickly. Cyrus soon got the information; it seemed that they were looking for some ancient outpost of some kind before these race of beings only known as the Olympians to which confused Cyrus he’d ask someone for more information about them latter on but for now he only knew them as the enemy to which they were engaging in battle. Cyrus had stayed back as everyone else set of to work he was still unsure where he was needed on this mission. Soon enough however Cyrus got his orders, he was to accompany Colonel Loveridge to the railgun’s positions and mount up a defense with the other military personnel while the civilians looked for the outpost.

Railgun Two

Cyrus followed the military personnel he spotted Colonel Loveridge climbing into the first railgun and another person who Cyrus saw was a captain climbed into the third railgun which led Cyrus to choose the second or fourth one. Choosing the second one Cyrus bolted towards the railgun with his P-90 hanging from its strap. Looking at the controls as he climbed in Cyrus found it to be easy enough to use since he had never used one before. "All guns, WEAPONS FREE!" Cyrus herd the Colonel say. “Copy that Colonel.” Cyrus replied back. Sitting down Cyrus aimed the railgun towards the sky and waited for enemy fighters. Cyrus didn’t have to wait long he watched the lead fighter get blown away from the Colonel’s railgun. Aiming the railgun Cyrus tore down two fighters before they could reach their target. “Hell yeah I can get used to this.” Cyrus grinned as he span around to blow another fighter to bits. Cyrus herd both the Colonel and the Captain speak through the radio the Captain stated that there were fighter coming from the north, though the Colonel stated that he couldn’t get them from where he was. “Colonel, Captain I can get the one’s coming from the north just give me a moment to lock onto them.” Cyrus explained over the radio. Cyrus swung the railgun towards the fighters. “Locking on target firing NOW!” Cyrus yelled as he let loose. The sky erupted in a brilliant flash of explosion. “Oh yeah that’s so a kill for the new guy.” Cyrus laughed as he kept watch.

Things were looking bleach for the poor old Iliad. "Hope not sir," Joker replied to Chappy's query about approaching enemy ships. "shields at 20%. No way could we deal with more without recharging the shields, only way to do that is to run from this engagement signing the deaths of those little people down on the surface... Sir" Paul's expression grew more concerned. The shields didn't exactly rebuild themselves at any impressive rate, and he knew his engineers would be doing all they could just to give him 20%. While they still had a bit of fight in them they'd soon be up the proverbal creek without a way to row back down it.

The beeping noise of sensor contacts snapped Paul back to reality. "Report!" he yelled, looking to the bridge officer. "Oh crap” Benteen replied. “Sir we got another contact, Romeo Four. She’s heading our way; I don’t know what she is at the moment. Sensors are damaged, sir. Shields at 15%, sir as I said. I don’t really want to die in flames." The Colonel cursed, this time out loud, and slammed his fist down on the arm of his chair in anger. One-on-one combat against the cruiser wasn't the worst scenario - both ships were equally matched - but without the element of surprise and already heavily damaged the Iliad was going into battle with a big handicap.

"Bring us around, same as before people," he replied, watching the range between the two ships shrink. "Watch those firing solutions; we need a good opening salvo to level the playing field." Joker gave Paul a report from the surface, before diving the ship into battle, and commenting how he wished he was in Hawaii. How the kid managed to keep his cool and sense of humor under these circumstances was beyond Paul, who was slowly losing the plot. "Shields are gone, we’re taking fire” Josh added. “I think we got them sir. But the stick is sluggish. Think our engines have been hit, not sure on the other damage sir. Romeo Four is still incoming."

The reports from the gunnery officers were good; the opening round of rail-gun and missile fire had hit home hard, but the Olympian cruiser still had a hell of a lot of fight left in her. Paul was about to re-task the F-302 to bombing runs of the cruiser when the sensor beeped again, signally enemy contacts. Paul looked to the display, and spotted eight Olympian cruisers on their scopes. They were still a long way out, but they were more than a match for the Earth vessel. The reinforcements had arrived, and Paul was out of tricks to deal with them.

"Shields are gone, we’re taking fire” Josh added. “I think we got them sir. But the stick is sluggish. Think our engines have been hit, not sure on the other damage sir. Romeo Four is still incoming." Joker informed as he tried to get the engines to provide the necessary thrust to escape the gravity well from the planet below. Looking at the console in front of him, Joker turned to Chapman. “We’ve lost life support and structural integrity in decks four through nine, on the port side from the attack from that last ship” Joker informed as he continued to read the information. “Railgun seven, nine and fourteen are offline.” Joker continued as he put his hand to his ear. “Medical teams report five casualties, two fatalities and seven people unaccounted for” Joker continued as he punched the engines as fast as they could go. “Romeo Four has been confirmed, it’s an Olympian cruiser. Its launching fighters, they’re heading for us” Joker reported as sighed. “Left sub-light engine is down. Engineering reports massive damage to it from one of the last shots from Romeo Two.” Joker informed as he sighed looking at the shields. Shields were depleted; they couldn’t go toe to toe with another cruiser. “We can’t run far, nor can we go against it. Sort of like Russian roulette” Joker commented as he sat back in the chair. He turned to the Colonel and smiled. “I got a crazy plan”

“We still got nukes right? We still got Asgard beams. We beam the nukes between us and them. Don’t activate them until the cruiser gets into range and blow them. Though they might survive their sensors will be down. We fire everything we got while their blind. Fighters will scrapped by our railgun’s. Space the nukes evenly so they affect a wide area. May or may not work, but it will give us time and make sure they slow down and not be eager to whack us” Joker commented. The console beeped again and Joker’s face went to shocked. “Talk about being screwed, we got eight new contacts on the edge of sensor range.” Joker informed as he cut the engines of the ship. No use going boldly into an outnumbered foe. “Sir, I think I can give us shields. The portable naqgen’s we have onboard tie them into the system. Should deplete the little light bulbs but it will give us enough power to give the shields enough juice to survive the nuke shockwave and some enemy fire, depending how many we got in storage. I can get them online in two minutes” Joker offered, he knew going to grab them was dangerous but it was better than staying still and getting pummelled

Near Railgun Two

Walker cringed as debris rained down around where he was crouched behind a set of equipment boxes. Lifting his head up to peer around again, he turned toward the Marine next to him to give an order only to find the lifeless body sprawled at an odd angle, spine clearly broken. Picking up the Stinger anti-aircraft weapon, the Lieutenant Colonel scanned the sky and picked a fighter that was coming in for another strafing run. Getting a satisfied beep to indicate the weapon was locked on, Robert depressed the trigger and lowered the launcher. The round followed the fighter and intercepted it, and the explosion shredded the wreckage to pieces.

Activating his radio, Walker called out, "Three-Six to all on the ground, we need someone on that third railgun!" The launcher down now, the officer picked up the M-249 the dead Marine had been using and scanned the sky again. Seeing an opening, he called to the Sergeant manning railgun two, "I'm headed to the Colonel's position!" Making a beeline for railgun one and Troy's position, Walker did not notice the radio slip from his vest and fall out and did not hear the warning call over the radio on the inbound bogey. Most of the way there, he saw Troy's head turn his way and shake, yelling something aloud. It was then that Robert realized his radio was down. Slowing for a split second, he checked the vest and felt it was gone.

The next second, the area around the Lieutenant Colonel disappeared in a white-hot flash as all the sound seemed to get swallowed up. What seemed like ages later, he realized he was staring at the ground around him, which was smoking and ablaze. Dimly he realized that his legs were not responding, and it took everything he had to use the one arm he could feel to turn halfway and look over toward railgun one. A rush of emotion swept through him, and he for the first time in his life, Robert Walker truly had no idea what to do. He did not even feel the flames licking at his BDU trousers as the world swam out of focus and descended into black.

Control Room


Working at his station, shutting down and sealing off non-essential areas of the outpost, he monitored the battle going on, the combined fire from the Rail guns and Aincient drones were having great effect, however as noted in previous engagements the Olympians were fanatical and kept coming wave after wave.

The his attention was caught by a alert sounding momentarily and Dr Wright shouting and snapping he seemed a very edgy character, Calmara turned back he almost locked down the entire outpost though some systems seem to kept trying to come on, he just had to stay alert and catch them, several sections now had Olympian soldiers trapped, contained for the moment, if they broke through the military techies would have their hands full, and of course they had to figure out how to remove them from the outpost.

He smiled at last it had taken five minuets grappling with on outpost that seemed to have a mind of its own, understanding then operating controls that hadn't been touched for tens of thousands of years, but he'd achieved his objective he announced this "All non-esential areas of the outpost have been locked down, all available power is now going to the rooms and systems we are using which should give us a power boost."

Pooja almost jumped when Hatfield was beamed down and jumped a little when he spoke. Warning of having someone beamed would be nice, she grumbled as she stood next to Tim then cringed as the P-90 came in her hands and tried not to sweat about it. Even her hands were trembling with fear after it was in her hands, “I really won’t need to use it, would I?” She asked, so far she had only passed the use of M9.

Moving towards the door, she leaned on the frame, “I’m so glad I don’t have the gene,” then grinned. Trying to image the chaos it would cause just by having the gene. “How many of us have the gene?”

Near Railgun Three

Jerry grunted as he saw more of the enemy foot soldiers making their way towards their side. Grunting he loaded up another mag to his gun, “Don’t these guys give up?” he scowled before firing again, this time taking careful aims and shooting.

“I doubt it,” Travis replied from where he was. Pausing his fire, he looked at Garcia, “I think they don’t know the meaning of the word or it’s not part of their vocabulary at all.” Chuclking he went back to firing. Somehow hoping they all would make it out alive. Not to mention he was watching SEAL’s officers back since Oxford didn’t want Jerry’s wife on his back; not that he wasn’t certain they were already married, but they sure acted like it.

”There’s an escape hatch in the front of the ship designed for the pilots to have a last resort off the vessel. Start gathering the injured and personnel and get your butts off this ship asap.”

Charlie looked out the back view port. Dirt, rock and mud was tumbling down the crumbling mountainside, obscuring the tunnel entrance from view. That's if the tunnel was even still there - hopefully it was reinforced and still existed. The thought of going out into that was pure insanity. The thought of staying in the jumper while debris piled up on top of it, the ground gave out beneath it, and the enemy shot at it was even more insane.

As much as she joked about people protecting her ass, Charlie didn't really give a damn about what happened to herself. It was the reason she drank so hard and smoked so much. But there were a group of people packed like sardines in the back of the jumper and Kat had to tend to the pilot since she knew more about the tech. This situation sucked royally.

Making sure that what Kat needed for the pilot was left behind, Charlie finished stuffing supplies into bags and passed them to the group to carry. She tugged her pack onto her back and nodded, wishing like hell she could have a little Dutch courage right around now. "Think the Ancients kept whiskey in their bases?" she joked dryly as she passed Kat, leading everyone through the tight confines of the jumper and out the pilot's emergency hatch.

Yeah. It was a pretty frakkin' bad idea. The roar of falling debris was deafening. Keeping everyone in something resembling order was impossible. By the time they'd gotten past the jumper, onto the thin slip of rock that served as a temporary walkway (until it, too, collapsed), and into the mouth of the tunnel, over half of the group had been lost. The rest were alive but covered in cuts, scrapes and a healthy layer of simple mud.

Charlie left everyone to go in ahead, sitting down in the shelter of the tunnel to wait for the others. Mud fell past the opening just a few feet away, like some sort of warped waterfall. The mud dripping down into her eyes turned red and she couldn't help but laugh. A head wound. She'd be treating a lot worse than that soon enough by the sound of the action outside. In comparison, a head wound was the equivalent of being handed a glass of champagne. She wiped the blood away and sighed. Life back on Earth seemed like a dream today.

Medical Jumper Hyppocrates

The evacuation took less than a few minutes and relief spilled over the Major as the last of the personnel and injured disembarked from the jumper. Before the other doctor left, she wished her good will and promised to be right behind as soon as she finished up the with pilot and ordered the other pilot to get out. It was no use trying to salvage the jumper now, it was going to be scrap metal at any moment. Another small jolt caused the young medic to jump slightly even though she was fully expecting it. Just a few more minutes, please.

”Major I do believe I have some power now. Going to relay the switches over to engines and do a little more….” Kat tried to smile at the pilots persistence. He was fairly new and quite young. She would surely recommend a medal of courage or something for all he was trying to accomplish. ”It was a good effort, but….” was started when a flickering of light emitted throughout the vessel. The pilot was actually getting the ship back online! Oh thank god. With a ray of hope, Kat finished up with the injuries on Porter. ”See if you can get those engines revved up Campbell before we wind up becoming this mountains’ lunch.” Frantically, the young officer began the task of switching power and getting all power to the engines. One hit to the jumper from outside and it would be all over now.

”I think I’ve got something Major!” His voice was like a kid on Christmas morning. The excitement was building as Kat picked up the groggy soldier and laced his arm around her shoulder. She was going to get him out and stay behind with the pilot if this thing could be finally lifted off its perch and taken to a safer location. She only took one step when another jolt hit the jumper’s rear sending the major and pilot to the ground. Unfortunately for Porter, he cushioned Kat’s fall. ”Campbell! Now would be a good time to try the engines!” He turned back quickly to the console nodding and attempted to fire her up.

Nothing.

He tried again.

Nothing.

The ship began to slide and both could see out of the window that it would be only a matter of seconds before they’d fall off the cliff. The major closed her eyes saying a silent prayer. Let me see everyone again please. Please, start the engines. The metallic vessel slid further and teetered off the edge. It would only be a moment and they could be airborne, at a newer safer location. Campbell continued to work furiously to get it started but his skin turned pale looking out the window. He already knew the outcome but continue to work, struggling with the ship’s systems, screaming obscenities with his mind. With one final sway, the jumper rumbled hard and then dropped. Kat sat inside holding the wounded officer trying to get communication to Loveridge, with only two words. ”I’m sorry.”

The jumper disappeared out of sight.

[Ashley "Logan" Kale]

Railgun Three

"Copy that Ash, keep an eye on them, I can't get an angle on them." Kale heard Troy respond to his last sitrep. "I will Sir, plus I am engaging them as we speak" Kale said in a loud voice into his headset to compensate for the loud noise from the rail gun. Monents later Kale heard another voice over the radio “Colonel, Captain I can get the one’s coming from the north just give me a moment to lock onto them.”

"Roger that, I guess that we need all the help that we can get" Kale replied in the same tone of when he last responded over his headset. Kale continued to fire in short bursts on the incoming targets coming from the north, taking out another target and sending it to the ground leaving a trail of smoke behind it.

"Three-Six to all on the ground, we need someone on that third railgun!" Kale heard Walker on the radio knowing he was on the third railgun already Kale responded with "Sir don't you mean the fourth railgun as I am on the third one already" after finishing speaking Kale wondered on when these fighters will give up, but knowing the Olympians he knew that they will not give up easy.

"Sir's may I suggest sending some ground support to my location as we might have more ground soldiers coming from the north" Kale said into his headset, as he has a feeling that the Olympians will be sending another wave of soldiers soon, "I guess this might be the fight to end all fights with the Olympians" Kale thought as he kept on firing at the targets, he was too busy concentrating on firing at the fighters that he didn't realize that they were also firing on him as well and that they were getting pretty close.

All of a sudden Kale felt a pain in his left arm as well as his left cheek on his face, looking down at it Kale noticed that he was hit in the arm with shrapnel as they hit a bit of the debris nearby, the adrenaline he had gained while firing the rail gun has given him the strength to keep on going until he gets someone to replace him, "Five-Five to anyone on the ground, I have been injured by shrapnel I require medical attention as well as someone to replace me on rail gun three" Kale said over his headset as he 'kept on keeping on' with firing until medical help and a replacement comes.

“I really won’t need to use it, would I?”

Tim groaned and gave Rai a slightly desperate look, “You can’t be serious. Of course you’ll have to fire it if fired upon. Even I do that, medic or not!”
He made a motion towards Colton and Hatfield, “Right now their, and this entire base for that matter, depends on how well we can defend this particular room, ok? So you will fire if necessary. Shoot first, ask questions later.”

Tim grabbed a crate and carried it over towards the door, stacking it on the one he’d pushed over a minute before, “At least it’s better than nothing…”
He grabbed hold of Rai’s sleeve, pushed her down behind the crates and then crouched to meet her eyes at the same level, using softer voice then before. After all, she was a civilian and not an airman who followed orders “Now keep your head down and your eyes open! Your survival depends on that, ok?”

Tim straightened up and took a deep breath, placing his arms and p90 on top of the crate, “Well, freaky gene or not, I’m glad I have it. It’s kind of useful when needed and when not, well it’s just there… Dormant, not bothering anybody and I honestly don't know how many of us that do have it. Just that a lot of us do.”
He chewed on his bottom lip and scanned the corridor both with his own eyes and the LSD, “Like now, I have this feeling of… tired happiness? It’s strange, I can’t put better words on it, but I think that this outpost has been waiting for us, wanting to have someone to once again interact with. It’s a strange feeling, but at the same time it’s a feeling of coming home...”

He listened to the frantic radio conversations and shook his head, ‘This is going downhill too fast.’
An explosion down the hallway startled him and made him focus ahead, “Here goes…”
Tim raised his voice to be sure it was heard over by the chair, “We’ve got company!” and then clicked the radio, “5-3 to command, we’ve got hostiles by the chair room, requesting back up ASAP, over”

The first energy blast hit the door post next to him, “This is it Rai, stay calm and remember to breath, ok?” the next hit the crate in front of him, sending debris all over the place and then the first Olympians entered the hallway, “Fire!”

"Will you two shut up!" Gem snapped, "I need to concentrate...there's too much going on!" Her voice sounding panicky. On the holographic projections were views of both the mountain and the orbiting Earth vessel as both parties were being besieged by the Olympians. In her last little panic attack, she seemed to have brough the Long Range sensors online, and she picked up several incoming vessels coming towards. However, just like a child with ADD, she was distracted by the fighters that were bombarding the folks on the mountainside. All of her efforts thus far with the drones were thinning out the enemies numbers, but not quickly enough. Right now, she had to make a choice: save the outpost's power and the ZPMs, or fire everything she's got to help the others, both on the ground and in the air.

Just when Gem began to draw a large amount of power to the chair room, the explosion in the corridor caught her attention. Soon, Tim and Dr. Rai began opening fire on the enemies whose footsteps echoed through the facility. "No, no, no!" she exclaimed, shooting a flustered look to Dr. Hatfield, "I...I need more time!"

But, I don't have any more...this is it. Her breath shaking, she heard the two at the doorway shoot towards the Olympians as they shot back. Concentrate...CONCENTRATE! Squeezing her eyes closed, she visualized firing as many drones as she could imagine into the night sky, targeting each one towards the flying fighters as well as large parties that were trying to break in on the far side of the mountain. In that same burst, she fired several dozen out into space towards the two vessels attacking the Iliad, though the rocking of the mountain as it was being fired upon kept her from seeing if they hit or not.

The shaking mountain gave her an idea. Slowing down the firing of the drones once again, she focused her attention on the shield surrounding the outpost. Was there any way she could extend it out to cover the folks on the ground? She raced through the data and power requirements, completely disregarding the effect this was having on the ZPMs. Her head felt like it was expanding, stretching to cover everything that was laid out in front of her on the projections. It was wearing her out...but it didn't matter. Nothing else mattered right now.

As far as she was concerned, this was the Delta Expedition's Last Stand.

With power now going to the right place Calmara left it in the hands of Sgt Colton in the chair, he switched his focus to the Olympian soldiers in the outpost, he knew their last location but the best way to be sure would be to use the internal sensors, but with most of the power needed to keep the shield powered and the chair operational, he would have to use them in bite-sized pieces, scanning an area at a time.

Firstly the area where he first contained them in the lock down, no sign they were loose. He moved the sensor focus in a arc gradually moving round to take in the control room, then on to the chair room. Calmara switched the sensor focus to include the chair room and the area around, pinpointing the Olympians positions and working out the best way to come at them."Any volunteers to go support the guys holding the chair room?"

A number of people responded, Calmara picked up the P90 he'd laid on the side and exited the control room Radioing as he did "Foster from Calmara, a few of us are heading from the control room to back you up, were gonna be coming up behind them, so we should catch them in a pincer move."

The small group advanced slowly, careful, and quietly, down the corridor. Moving from pillar to post, overlapping, as they went. This turning into an average day for Calmara. Go off-world, get backed into corner, help buy time by rigging some technical gizmo, then help gun their way out, life on the front line of exploration. The sound of partial weapon fire made them quicken their pace, they halted just in range of the Olympians, who focus on taking the chair room had yet to notice their arrival. They had time for each of them to get behind cover and line up a clear shot. They fired. The opening rounds had the desired effect they split the Olympian attack and took some pressure of Sgt Foster and Dr Rai as they held the chair room.
