As the jumper started to shake and shudder, Tim was glad he’d followed procedures and secured himself before lying down on the hatch. He only made a complete roll and then he was all business again, though slightly spiked with even more adrenalin then before.
He looked down at Garrett and Mack, surprised to discover that James had joined them as well.
He was just about to slip a sigh of relief since Mack was up, walking and talking to James as someone else entered the cave in, Dr Rai… "That stupid woman!"

Tim groaned and clicked his radio, “5-3 to Hippo-pilot, Mack appears to be fine from what I can see, there’s a civvie moving in though. Keep her steady, I’m going down as well.”
“Copy that 5-3, I’ll make no promises though. She suddenly appears to have a will of her own. Pilot out.”
“5-3 out” Tim shook his head, got up on his feet and started to feed out more line and prepare to repel down to see what the heck was going on down there.
If James was going to get further inside the cave, and Mack was fine he was sure he’d made better use of his skills closer to the cave in then on the Jumper that already had two doctors and one medic.
'Or at least one..." he noted as Cordoy took a closer look at a cut Logan had managed to get during the jumps their dear Hippo had done

He shot a glance at Greg, “You look after the docs now, I need to get down and see what the h£!! they’re doing down there. Mack’s at least walking and talking, but I want to make sure myself,” he rolled his eyes and groaned, “and then there’s a civvie doc named Rai moving around there as well and I don’t like that…”
‘Not to mention what my CO would do to me if anything happens to her and I’m up here, just looking…’

Tim grabbed the descender, took a deep breath and climbed over the edge of the hatch. ‘30 meters, piece of cake Foster…’
A few seconds later he stood next to Garrett, Mack and Rai and unhooked his harness.
“You ok Mack?”
The fellow Sergeant nodded, “Yeah, a little bruised and battered, but that’s all…No big deal”
Tim gave him a scrutinizing look, paying attention to his skin color and breathing, “Okay, just let me know if anything changes, alright?”
“Absolutely.”

With a sigh, Tim turned towards Rai, “Doc… Are you trying to get yourself killed or something? A cave in is not a place for a doctor of social science. Or do you want to study how we all interact when we have further casualties due to sheer stupidity? You could very easily get a front row ticket you know.”
Tim’s voice was calm and steady, no need to get more upset in a situation like this, she was smart enough to get the hint…

He listened to James reporting up to the brass and then grabbed Rai’s sleeve firmly, “You hear that? Let’s get you to a safer place…” and then led the way further in the cave towards James.

“Anyone want to come?” Zara asked turning to all the civilians gathered in the immediate area.

“Yea I’ll come. I surely could use another distraction,” replied Pooja. “Indeed. I hate standing around doing nothing,” Zara replied as they began to make their way to where the excavations were taking place. Unfortunately they didn’t get far when a shout echoed across to where they stood.

"Can I get some help over here!?" the familiar voice of Mack called out. Practically the whole team moved to where he was located; she hoped he was unhurt.

“Want to go and help him out?” Pooja asked to which Zara nodded and they began to quickly make their way closer to the crowd that had gathered around their fallen comrade. “What you need help with?” Pooja asked a young man who was trying to take control of the situation.

“I've seen something very interesting might be a way in," Calmara advised. “What is it you see? Can I be of assistance at all?” Zara asked relieved that Mack was alright afterall. “Lantian you say….are there any distinguishable reliefs, characters or writing down there?” she asked.

"OK EVERYONE WHOSE NOT A MEDIC HEAD DOWN THE MOUNTAIN TOWARDS THE JUMPER, MOVE QUICKLY BUT DON'T RUN," Calmara shouted to all those surrounding the immediate area.

“Surely you don’t mean me? You may need an archaeologist and linguist on this part of the ‘tour’,” Zara explained waiting what the verdict would be.

Zara quickly turned on her own flashlight to illuminate the darkness as the duo slowly moved down into the cave. There was a humming in the distance; she did not know what it could be but it was constant. She could hear voices come up behind them and she nodded at the newcomers. “Can anyone hear that humming or is that me?” she asked.

Shining her torch across the walls of the tunnel, they highlighted something interesting. “There is writing here,” Zara advised the crowd. “Oui, yes. Give me a chance to translate what it says,” she replied as someone asked her what the writing said. “Tantum fortis may penetro,” Zara whispered. “It roughly translates as ‘only the strong or brave may enter’,” she said looking at the others. “I do not know what exactly that entails. Perhaps we should seek assistance?” Zara asked waiting on the other’s suggestions.

"Yeehaw," Joker yelled as he threw the ship hard right and away from impending collision with the enemy cruiser. "Don’t you love space chicken Colonel?" he added as the vessel leveled out. "Must have missed that one at Weapons School," Paul replied, gaze still locked on the enemy vessel 'Romeo Three' as they flung pass it. "Sadly he won't fall for it all; Gunnery, fire full port broadside!" With confirmation the gunnery officer tapped at his console, and brought tall rail-guns on the port side of the vessel to bear on the Olympian cruiser as they skimmed past her. At point blank range the enemies shields were no match for the powerful batteries, and as they swung around for another pass Chappy could already see a number of compartments on the enemy vessel were venting atmosphere.

Benteen brought the ship around, and by always keeping one enemy ship in front of the other they were able to engage the ships one at a time while still tying them up in orbit. The F-302's had been instructed to target any and all communications arrays on the vessels in the hope of stopping them from calling for backup, but Paul had no one of knowing if this tactic was working or not. So far deep range sensor hadn't picked up any approaching enemy vessels, and that could only be a good sign.

"Sir, enemy fighters are launching," announced a bridge officer. Paul looked to the forward view port to see the dozens of small snub fighters appearing around the Olympian cruisers - the enemy didn't use hanger bays for deploying and retrieving fighters, but rather beamed them into and out of combat. The tactic denied Paul's F-302's of juicy hangar bay targets, which were always full of nice juicy secondary explosions.

Then to the Colonel's horror, the ships broke formation and dove toward the surface, angling for the mountain the expedition personnel were digging at. He cursed out loud and opened a radio channel. "Ground teams, Iliad. Enemy fighters are inbound on your position. I saw again, enemy fighters are inbound on your position!"

At the command tent, Troy continued to direct work flow. Reports were coming in from the crews out on the mountain that by pure accident Warrant Officer Brown and his oddly powerful ATA gene had found a secret entranceway to the Ancient outpost. This was very good news indeed, as Troy wasn't over the moon about detonating plastic explosive too close to the outpost; who knew how old or what sort of condition it was in? The less damage they did gaining entrance, the better.

Commander Garcia appeared, with news the boundaries were locked down. "I have perimeter defenses set up. What else can I do?" the SEAL asked. The Colonel pointed out to the rail-gun batteries set up around the perimeter of the mountain into which the teams were digging. "Could sure use someone on the ground guns, just in case the Olympians decide to drop in and join us for our little dig."

The next person to alive at the tent was SD-4's commander. "You wanted to know about the enemy formation and the numbers they currently have," Major Oxford declared as he entered the tent, fresh back from his recon of the Olympian fort they'd detected not far away. "I’m down here to report." Aerial photographs suggested the enemy were also digging for something, and Troy had no doubt they were also looking for the Ancient outpost. "What are we just against Trav?"

Just as the Major finished his report, the command tent's radio crackled to life. "Ground teams, Iliad. Enemy fighters are inbound on your position," Colonel Chapman overhead on the Iliad exclaimed. "I say again, enemy fighters are inbound on your position!" Troy cursed and grabbed for the radio. "All teams, Delta-One-Six. Heads up people, Olympian fighters are about to join the party. Military personnel are to man the anti-aircraft rail-gun positions and defend the mountain while techs and civilians get the outpost up the running. Good luck everyone!"

“Hippocrates” Medical Jumper

As Greg looked around the woman named “Cordoy” answered his last question. “I think that's a question to be asked to someone who a) has a clue and b) isn't preoccupied with the possibility of dying,"[/i] the doctor said before she added, "And if you say 'ma'am' one more time, I may throw you out the back of the jumper. Just a warning.". Greg gave her a look as he just nodded before responding. “All due respect, the likelihood of your dying on a digging expedition is about the same amount is going to the beach. And from what I see there’s no sharks here” He said trying to make a joke. “You have more experience than I do, so technically I’m the extra” he added with a small gentle smile before replying to the warning. “Apologies, I am just use to saying that. Do you prefer doctor instead?” Greg asked just as the craft took a knock. It felt like the time he was in a Blackhawk and a RPG round went flying, the sudden jolt back then nearly made him come out of the helo. This time the jolt pushed him up and the last thing he heard was his temple squish against a piece of metal. Then it was all darkness.

Greg moaned as his eyes fluttered open, he realised he was on the floor. His temple pounding, he realised that somehow his helmet gave him little protection against alien spacecraft turbulence. He focused on the Sergeant who was talking to him.“You look after the docs now, I need to get down and see what the h£!! they’re doing down there. Mack’s at least walking and talking, but I want to make sure myself,”[/i]. Greg got up and nodded, “Yes Sir” he replied as he steadied himself. What he could tell was the Captain seemed to have a small cut on her cheek and that Doctor Cordoy was cleaning it. “Are you alright ma’am? Doctor?” he asked groggily. He wasn’t the best person to ask that question, but he had been through worse. The radio crackled with a response that made Greg fill even worse. “All teams, Delta-One-Six. Heads up people, Olympian fighters are about to join the party. Military personnel are to man the anti-aircraft rail-gun positions and defend the mountain while techs and civilians get the outpost up the running. Good luck everyone!"[/i]. Greg looked at the people and shrugged. “What are our orders? "Sir, enemy fighters are launching," Joker informed as he piloted the ship around the enemy vessels. Joker realised that their fighter buddies will now be outmatched sooner or later. He never piloted a F-302 against enemy opposition, so he didn’t know who would beat who. He then heard the colonel’s transmission down to the planet. "Ground teams, Iliad. Enemy fighters are inbound on your position. I saw again, enemy fighters are inbound on your position!"[/i]. Joker turned to the Colonel and sighed. “As much as I don’t want to die horribly in flames or something like that. The only way we can save that team is to pout the Iliad between them and those fighter sir” Joker suggested as the Iliad was receiving fire. It didn’t matter if reinforcements came if the expedition teams were killed; therefore the only option was a selfless action. The Iliad was taking fire as an explosion ripped open the nearby vessel off their flank. ‘One to go’ Joker thought as he waited for the order from the Colonel.

“Shields at 30% and falling” Joker informed as the vessel shook from nearby fire. Right now Joker would have loved being on a beach with a bunch of bikini cladded women, yet he was in another galaxy being shot at by aliens with a bad temper. Life wasn’t fair.

It was inevitable; Kat got butterfly stitches. Charlie wasn't a huge fan of them and wasn't even sure they were needed, but it seemed better safe than sorry what with everything going to hell in a handbasket. The small wound dealt with for now, she turned her attention to Greg.

“What are our orders? We are medical personnel, I mean does this helo have anything that can help us?” / “Looks like you may get your wish Doctor, sharks are coming” / “Our Father, who art in Heaven; hallowed by Thy name…”

"Do me a favour and stow the religious crap," Charlie muttered, holding him by the chin so she could shine her penlight into his eyes. He seemed alright but she still kept an eye on him just in case; concussion could be a bitch. "I wanted someone to get shot, minus our impending death. This is impending death. Oh, and if either of you have head injuries, I'd prefer it if you passed out and died after you'd watched this particular civilian's ass. Thanks."

As unreligious as she was, Charlie would have knelt down and prayed right then and there if it meant the others would find the damned hidden city any quicker.

She made some sound of understanding as she looked at Mack then shook her head, “Yea we are, on the same team.” She confirmed it to James, then smiled, “Sure will keep in company,” sitting down she crossed her legs and faces Mack, “That toy of yours is full of trouble, Warrant Officer,” Rai looked at the earthmover with a twisted face.

She heard Mack laugh in groan; “You are okay right?” she wasn’t sure if she was convicted about his I’m fine line.

“Uh huh,” he replied, “Few bruised muscles won’t kill me.”

Hearing Tim’s arrival she watched him work, then face her, listening she shot him glare, beating his head with a wooden plank would suit her right about now. “No, I’m not,” she responded flatly, crossing her arms over her chest and scowled, “I’m just doing what one team member would do for another.” She knew she own Mack that much. That man helped her come to her sense in their last mission to the planet where most of the team had been brain washed. She didn’t see it as a debt to settle; it was an opportunity to help him when he needed it the most.

Oh now she really needed something to hit him with, folding her arms she glared at time, coldly, “You think I give a damn about my own injuries when my team mate is down there ready to be buried alive at a moment of notice? And FYI,” she moved to jab his chest with her finger and hard, “I’m not here looking for a report to write down.”

The barking out from James made her look his way, but it was the pull from Tim that really caught her attention, feeling the firm grip, Rai tried to wiggle her arm free, “Foster, let me go,” she screamed, “I said let me go. Foster -,” she cut off seeing where they were heading, she gaped at the area and cave; and gulped, “and I have a death wish?” she hissed at Tim, “you’re the one who’s insane.”

It wasn’t until Zara starting talking she realized what was happening or at least she like to think she did, blinking at her team mate, “Are we talking ‘brave and strong’ size wise or brain wise?” she asked, then eyed Tim thoughtfully, “Or maybe insane strong and brave?”

Though different people had different things, he knew a specialist who had faith in his troll that his daughter gave him. Other had a lucky knife, or a lucky hat and such they put their faith in. Everyone had something they believed in to get them out of trouble. Doctor Cordoy came over and shined the torch in his eyes, he knew the procedure as he had done it many times himself. "Do me a favour and stow the religious crap,"[/i] she replied. Greg just stared at her, there was no point even replying to that comment. He could say ‘Everyone has something’. He moved away from the doctor as she continued on her rant."I wanted someone to get shot, minus our impending death. This is impending death. Oh, and if either of you have head injuries, I'd prefer it if you passed out and died after you'd watched this particular civilian's ass. Thanks."[/i]. Greg just stared at her and didn’t bother replying, he wasn’t a combat soldier. He was a medic, and one who didn’t like to kill the enemy. A few more reasons why Greg wondered why he was even transferred here in the first place, maybe God was giving him a duty to perform. One greater than he had ever performed before, as the helo landed Greg got out of the craft and hurried to a forward position. He didn’t see he was much use unless everyone started to be shot and injured. But right now there were many health professionals by the helo that could attend to the wounded.

Greg got to the front as some sort of plane could be seen, Greg was about to ask what it was went the ground nearby lifted him up. Thrown into a nearby mountain of rock, he fell into darkness. Greg could see a bright light, he could hear someone call his name and he went towards it. On D2X-374 the body of the young inexperienced medic who just came to the expedition was now just a shell. He would probably be not the last death on this battlefield.

Note: Greg is dead, not as fancy I was gonna do it. But meh, he's dead.

Stood between the jumper and entrance using a red glow stick to guide people down and into the tunnel Calmara turned as another scientist came up to him issuing a stream of questions "It's Lantian that's all i know, Doctor Jaarsveld is it? i gave it a quick glance to see if it was stable, if your a linguist be my guest and have a look just be aware its going to get very full in here." Calmara replied while making sweeping-move-along gestures with his hands.

Moments later the final few people literally slithered down the last few meters of the slope, Calmara caught them by the arm, pull them up, guided them in with a shove. with a rumble the mountain side followed them, Calmara's position in the tunnel entrance gave him a unique side-on perspective, rock, dirt, shale and equipment poured down the slope towards the base which began to emit a blue-green glow as the tonnes of rock seemed to evaporate at that point, the excess equipment was flung to the side, as the mountain facade dissipated, revealing full blown ancient outpost. Then came the inevitable order. "All teams, Delta-One-Six. Heads up people, Olympian fighters are about to join the party....techs and civilians get the outpost up the running. Good luck everyone!" Calmara shrugged gone is the softly cautious approach, now it was a case of rush in, time was of the essence.

Control room

Moving quickly down the tunnel, pistol drawn and ready as a precaution flashlight providing him with illumination. the tunnel ran into a corridor which had several rooms coming of it. This led out into control room laid out much like the one in Atlantis, except on one level and minus the stargate, and just like their everything powered up sensing the ATA gene. Calmara i know you feel like a ten-year-old in a candy store, but but some nasty people are going to try and blow us up so lets get to work. he cautioned himself and made straight for a console, noticing other techies setting to work in their own way. He was more interested in a map of the outpost finding his bearings, he fiddled with a few buttons until a map appeared on a screen set into the wall behind the console on the left hand side, from were they came in.

The outpost was laid out much like Atlantis itself three piers with a central control room, all the locations were labeled but the writing was in ancient which he couldn't read and didn't have one of the handy interface tablets, sighting Doctor Jaarsveld he waved her over"Doctor need a hand with translation, that!"pointing to the screen"well not all of it, just key words like, 'Power room', 'Chair room', 'Jumper bay', we can explore the rest later."

"right that's a start, i don't suppose it tells us if it's loaded with drones?" then a thought hit him something that could through a huge spanner in the works "Power, has anyone checked how much juice we've got left?"

Gemma slipped and slided down the mountain with Han, who urged her to hurry. Slipping once, she felt no ground where her foot was and immediately shifted her weight until she was on her back again, proceeding to roll down a few more yards before she gained her footing again. Who knew that Hell Week would have come in handy?

"Irrii, Irrii! Too many rr-rrocks and brrranches. This way." She felt herself slam into Han by the time she proccessed his words. Feeling a slight shove onto what she assumed was a clearer path, she lost her footing again and slid some more. Mud was now all in her pant legs, her shirt, her hair...pretty much everywhere you could get mud. However, when you're running for your life and for the lives of others, there is no time to think of how amazing a shower would be.

Han had managed to pull her up off the ground again, his claws making scratching sounds as they dug into the vinyl of her vest. They both managed to support each other as they made it down the treacherous slope; Han used his sight to keep them on a clearer path.

Finally, she could see the glow of the crew. Reaching the ledge where the crew dug, she felt someone else grab onto her vest as she tumbled to the last part of the slope. In the faint glow, she saw her fellow Sergeant, Calmara. Wait...what glow?

Looking over to where she was half shoved, she saw the mountain disintigrating before her eyes, and Lantean architecture sprouting from the ground. For a moment, she froze in place, her eyes widened in wonder. "Oh my god..." Jolted as other darted towards the light, she glanced back at Han and grabbed his furry arm to drag him along as the mountain continued to crumble around them.

Ancient Outpost

Emurging in the central control room, Gemma gazed around in brief wonderment. It was beautiful. It was unlike anything she had ever seen. However, it did look to be a fixer-upper. Then again, after a couple thousand years, it looked pretty good. As she heard Col. Loveridge's transmission, she felt the pit in her stomach sink.

Instantly snapping back to reality, she heard Calmara order for translations of the map on the flickering screen. As the Doctor defined each of the jumbled characters, she jumped up as she pointed to the Chair Room.

"The ZPM, or ZPMs, will be here," she noted to the others, using the mud that still clung to her to slick her hair out of her face. Looking to Calmara, she nodded, "I'm familiar with the way the chair should function...though I've never used it before. ." The look on her face was half concern, half excitement. She was almost asking for permission to sit in it. She had the gene, so she was capable of using the chair...should they need it. "That seems like the easiest, not to mention the quickest way to find out all the vitals about the station.

Nodding, she took one last glance at the screen to make sure she was headed down the right corridor. Looking back at Calmara and the others, she couldn't keep herself from grinning broadly as she looked up from her mud coverd clothes.

"I promise I'll clean it up afterwards...if we last that long." Looking back to the others, she dashed off down the hallway.

Tim gave her a frustrated glare, ‘Civilians!’ and continued down the cave, frollowing the glow sticks on the ground towards where the rest of the people had disappeared, still holding on to the woman.

“Foster, let me go,” she screamed, “I said let me go. Foster, you’re the one who’s insane.”

Tim released her and took a step back out of the way, holding up his hands in a defensive gesture, “Alright, you’re on your own. Not going to touch you…” ‘ …as long as you stay near me and out of trouble.’
My God she was annoying at times, CO’s girlfriend or not, she was really starting to get on his nerves. Why the heck SGC allowed civvies in off world activities was still an enigma to him.
He took a deep, calming breath, a firm grip of his P-90 and then trailed after the doctor in to the ancient building

“Are we talking ‘brave and strong’ size wise or brain wise?” she asked, then eyed Tim thoughtfully, “Or maybe insane strong and brave?”

Tim just bit his tongue while he shook his head, ‘One day Rai, one day…’ and then turned his attention towards the city.

“A lot of scientists in an unfamiliar environment, that’s accidents in the making,” he mumbled as he entered the city and then just stood there. Looking.
He’d heard stories about ‘Atlantis’ but never been there and this sight was just… Amazing!

Ancient outpost

Tim tore himself out of his train of thoughts and joined the group of people in the control room, keeping a weary eye on their entrance point. Medic or not, SD5 present or not, he still felt the responsibility to protect the people around him.
He grinned at the female sergeant’s excitement about having an opportunity to interact with the city and turned towards one of the civilian scientists, “I’m going with her, but I’d like a map to bring along.”
The young man frowned, attached a cord between his own small data pad and the control panel, tapped away a few seconds and then disconnected it.
“Here you go Serge,” [/color]he pointed at the screen, “We’re here, and this is the Chair room” and then handed it over to Tim.
Tim nodded and grabbed the pad, “Thanks,” and started to run after Colton, shouting back to the young man, “I owe you one,”

He caught up with the woman in the next intersection, “Hey Colton, wait up. If you’re going to do this “chair-thing”, you’re going to need someone to watch your back…” and then shot a glance at the data pad and pointed towards the left.
“That way.”

“Well, Sir, they are digging for something,” he began as she took a seat, “hard to say what it might be, at the moment, but I had to guess it could for the Ancient outpost.” Looking at Garcia for a quick moment, “As to what we are up against, one to two thousand enemy personals; mostly ground members. Estimate guess. My men and I have no detected any aerial movement from the other party.”

Hearing the radio and Chapman’s voice, Travis groaned, and sprung into action, “Reed, Whitely,” he barked into his radio, “Report and give me an ETA. NOW.” They where meant to report once the enemy had breached the safety line he had set up. Perhaps it hadn’t been noticed by the two men till it was too late.

“ETA 7 minutes Major,” Reed reported in, “They actually bombed the area with smoke, sir; couldn’t tell if they were going to come inbounding on us.”

He winced as he looked at Tory. At least they had time right? “How many men?”

“Roughly round 100, perhaps more,” Reed said, “they are coming in smaller groups.”

It was just what he needed Travis though as he looked at Troy and Jerry, “Permission to gate crash their incoming party?”

Mountain Ranges


Ian had been in the jumper checking and rechecking the scanners to find this lost outpost that the Delian Galaxy could really use. Everything else was unimportant right now as he ignored the others then bam the mountain faded with the molecules of the dirt changing almost as if they were a shield to the scanners to reveal Lantean architecture, the tiers the control spire well the best way to describe would wow. Then breaking him out of his daze of wonderment was the incoming ships getting to blast them off the face of Earth scratch the this planet. Ian and the rest of the science team that he had brought went into the city through the spot some guy named Mack had found or fell into which ever was the case and so he ran making sure not to repeat what happened here a couple months ago to prove he was good at his job.

Ancient outpost


The hallways were very much similar to Atlantis, McKay might be right about this Ian thought to himself as they finally reached the control room. Which mind you it wasn't the same size as the Atlantis one but still quite amazing. One level with the control stations and database screens, windows and well etcetera. No Stargate though maybe one could fit in here, probably, as he looked around in a circle at this whole place as the control panels and screens lit up from the ATA gene or command code to activate at the presence of people. Now Ian could read Ancient but he had bigger fish to fry so he jacked into one of the panels with his laptop to get a better bearing on the situation and plopped into one of the chairs that were left at the control stations. As Calmara got one of the consoles to show up the map of the city, Ian ignored it they needed to know if this city was up and running or should they blow it up so power check was first on his to do list.

When that new girl oh what was her name, one of Ian's weak points, then that Tim guy went after her towards the chair room apparently but without any idea on how much power was left that might not be any sense to that idea. First he ran a diagnostic on the system before he started looking up the power distribution center of the outpost or city or whatever. James then asked about the ZPM power system not to mention the drones so Dr. Wright in his own way said without looking up but over his shoulder "ZPM's working on power check but drones are not a full complement but enough to make someone think twice about staying." Then the laptop beeped at him in quite annoying tone stating the ZPM usage of the city "Alright we have one ZPM with a full charge, one at about half and one that has reached entropy." he said as his fingers danced across the laptop keyboard. Wright did the math in his head 1 and a half ZPM's should be enough to launch this thing as his eyes went around the control room Hopefully he thought grimly.

Waving off the Sergeant, Ian said with more bite then he intended "I don't know if we can leave yet and the shields are a good question and still working on it so busy." Ian tapped his radio and said into it "Foster how much longer till you reach the chair room, I need to know if the engines are offline or usable."

As he waited for a response the scientist started looking for shield subroutines in the main computer database because they would need it in a hurry when those fighters got here which at this rate wasn't too far to go.

Ancient Outpost
Corridor

As Gemma made her way down the corridor, the panels on the wall began to light up, lighting the way. A thought nagged her for a moment...how much energy was this using?? However, her thoughts were cast aside by the swelling nervousness that began to fill the pit of her stomach. Sure, she had been studying the Ancient Outpost in Antarctica and the data received from Atlantis for the past few years, and she knew the in's and out's of different Ancient technologies. Nonetheless, she was soon questioning herself and her abilities...as well as what gave her the urge to volunteer for such a task on a whim. Alone.

"Hey Colton, wait up,"

[/i] a voice called from behind her as she reached an intersection. Still half-jogging, she turned around to see Sergeant Foster following her. She wasn't sure if the relief was visible in the dim light that grew along the walls, but she almost didn't care. "If you’re going to do this 'chair-thing', you’re going to need someone to watch your back…”[/i]

"Thanks, Foster," Gem said, trying not to sound as relieved as she felt. To be honest, she was quite excited to finally be able to sit on the chair. The only time she tried down in Antarctica, some jerk named Rodney chased her off. Even though she was thrilled at the prospect of sitting there, the circumstances were a bit unsettling. No pressure, right?

"That way," Tim said, breaking her train of thought. Nodding, they took off down the hallway, making a few more turns according the the map on his tablet. Finally, they reached a closed door. Glancing at him, she smirked.

"Ready for this?"

Chair Room

As with the rest of the outpost, the walls of the room began to light as she stepped in. Glancing around, she saw the stand that held two ZPMs. Well, that was a relief. There might be a chance they could get out of here. Just then, both of their radio earpieces crackled to life.

-Foster how much longer till you reach the chair room, I need to know if the engines are offline or usable.-

Doctor Wright. She knew the CSA could get quite cranky under pressure and was quite used to his tone, though from a distance. Thank god. However, he had a point. No more stalling.

Taking a breath, she looked at the thone-like chair in the middle of the room and stepped onto the platform. It began to glow, and she saw just how gross she was. Ew. Mud. Finally, she sat on the chair, looking over to Tim. She released the breath as the chair reclined. Flexing her hands, she watched as they seemed to lower onto the hand panels in slow motion.

"Whoa.." she gasped, as the holographic projections began to fill the room. Systems, readings, warnings, signatures...almost everything you could expect to know. It was overwhelming! Off to her side, she could hear Tim talking on the comm. "Umm..what did Doctor Wright want me to find again? There's just so...much..."

"Shields at 40%. Engines currently offline, and...yes, we do have enough power to bring them online, but it'll take a bit. Approximately 5 minutes from what I'm reading. I'm going to shut down all the sections of the outpost that we've not reached yet to conserve the Z...P..." She trailed as an alert flashed across her mind. "The side of the mountain that the Olympian's are digging on has been breached." At that same moment, another warning flashed as the Olympian fighters closed in. Her fingers itched as the system requested to activate the drones as a defense.

"The Outpost is suggesting that we engage the drones with the current situation, though that would slow down the process as far as firing up the engines are concerned. Requesting orders."

The warnings in her brain made it difficult to concentrate on more than one thing at a time, though she didn't want to do anything that could jeopardize the rest of the mission. C'mon, Gem...keep it together.
