As the last of the lasers decimated the Nidhogg fleet, the flickering lights caught Marra off guard. Nolen's proclamation of a broken circuit on the outside of the facility made her stomach do a flip. Yes, they had busted up these baddies...but they were sure to have friends. And, since Yoda sent the Aeneid home with it's tail tucked between its legs, they were gonna be stuck here until further notice.

No less than half a second had passed before Cromin volunteered to do the spacewalk with Nolen. Then, he asked Alek to assist him in putting on the spacesuit. WTF? Turning to the Russian, she murmured, "Good luck finding a suit that will fit that swollen ego." He turned to go help Cromin and Nolen get into their suits, and she stood by Abi, who seemed just as super-duper suprised as she was about Cromin's volunteering. Both of them turned to the console, which Abi seemed to be consoling...no pun intended. Activating the monitors installed in both of the men's spacesuits, she brought up their vitals and movements onto the screen as they entered the airlock.

"Squadron Leader Syaria and Captain Cromin have activated the airlock," she reported to Col. Harrison, then activating the comm in both of their earpieces. "Alright, guys. As you step out of the airlock, you'll need to walk about 50 meters to your left. The panel with the power circuit is about 18 meters above the ground, so you'll have to find a way to get up there. Be careful, and watch for shrapnel from the Nidhogg ships as you go. The gravity of the moon may pull it towards the surface. Grinning slightly and looking toward Abi, she added on, "Any questions, comments, concerns, remarks, last words?"

It had all happened so fast ... one second they were abandoning the Aeneid and the next the crew (what was left) were beamed down to the research station. Now the enemy fleet was destroyed, with the exception of a few fighters on their own. Vaguely paying attention to the calls for repairs and other issues flying around, Harrison ordered to anyone who was available, "Run an extended sensor sweep and include the electromagnetic and infrared spectrums." Seeing Nolen and Cromin getting ready to embark, he called, "Wait! Not yet ... "

Harrison gestured for them to let him aside, and he adjusted a few settings. The readout registered a small signature moving at cruising speed, orbiting the nearby moon. "This is a research station right?" he asked rhetorically. "Send a low-level ionic pulse toward this signature, but boost it with all available power." The crew complied, and through the massive viewport in front of the console showing the outside space, a gargantuan ship slowly shimmered into view.

The response was to be expected, with crew scrambling to determine what it was they were looking at. "It's them," Harrison called wearily. Seeing the team getting ready to embark yet again for the repairs, he said, "Don't! The energy wave that swept over the Aeneid was like the one when the Icarus first encountered the Nidhogg ... they were TAKING our people, not killing them. Our people are on that ship, over three-fourths of the entire crew. If we destroy it, we kill them all. I will not allow that to happen."

As they debated possibilities of what to do, each as ridiculous as the next, someone announced that a transmission was incoming. The Lieutenant Colonel ordered it on his screen, and he read though the message, which had been translated into Asgard by the enemies: We have your populace in captivity. We have scanned the station know you can not defend yourselves at this moment. Give yourselves over to us and no more of your brethren will perish. Harrison translated to the crew for those who could not read Asgard and waited for the response.

Miss Ely was more than ready to assist Kamarov in doing all they could to repair the station from the inside while Nolen and Robert effected repairs from the exterior of hard space. "<That as well,>" Ali replied in Russian. "<Or the pant-less aliens will be very, very mad at us.>" That did bring a smile, however slight, to the Russians face. "<Neither they nor the Asgard seem to desire coverings from their body,"> he replied in his native tongue. "<Perhaps this is the reason both are technologically superior to us?>" The thought of a pant-less air force was comical, though something that should best be left for a less crucial or dangerous time.

"Though there is only so much we can do in here," Ali added, fluently switching to English in a way only someone truly bilingual can. "A lot of our repairs depend on theirs." Alek nodded in approval, and turned back to his terminal. She was correct; the only thing stopping their weapon firing was the broken circuit on the exterior of the research facility. Unable to do anything to speed up the weapons systems he switched his console to another function using the Asgard stones, and out of curiosity ran a life signs scan on the station.

"Any questions, comments, concerns, remarks, last words?" Samarra asked, drawing the Russian's attention away from the screen. "No ma'am," he replied, then turned back to the beeping console. It took him a minute to read the results, during which the Colonel announced the Nidhogg had captured members of the crew before they'd beamed away and were demanding a surrender. Suddenly Alek realized what the display was trying to tell him. He cursed loudly in Russian, and turned to the crew.

"Life sign detector show eight - no, eighteen silicon-based lifeforms entering facility and making way toward us," he stammered, his English suffering under the stress and surprise. "Nidhogg invaders..."

Catching the fact that Alek almost-kinda-smiled, Abi smiled a bit herself – as her mind wandered to the pantless little monsters that were quite genius…but kinda creepy yet adorable at the same time. Darn conflicting feelings
"<Neither they nor the Asgard seem to desire coverings from their body,"> the Russian Ninja observed, amusing Abi, "<Perhaps this is the reason both are technologically superior to us?>"
“<A true genius is always nude,>” she stated in an even tone, as her mind went immediately to everyone in the facility being naked – and everything running smoothly. Though…with all the stress on ‘OH MY GOD – NAKEE BAD!’ that the media, press, and society in general, has pressed upon it…everyone would be too distracted to get anything done. With butts and boobs – no one has an attention span, “<Or maybe they just have evolved to the point where the can run around naked,> she half shrugged, amused to no end that they were even having this conversation, “<Since they really don’t have any discernable ‘parts’ to cover. They are basically walking little dolls,>” she half shrugged, a smile appearing across her features as they worked – knowing that there were several frustrated eavesdroppers lurking nearby. Ah the beauty of speaking the same language…which not everyone else did.

Then Alek was dragged off to go play dress up…
“Good luck finding a suit that will fit that swollen ego." Mara whispered, causing Abi to stifle a giggle, before the Captain went-off sounding all official like, before looking over to Abi, "Any questions, comments, concerns, remarks, last words?"
“Never give up. Never surrender. Live long and prosper. To be or not to be…” Abi frowned, “All the goods ones are taken…OH – how about ‘Reality is relative!’ though that’s not really a ‘last word’ or rather ‘phrase’…” she paused, rolling her lips in.
"No ma'am," Alek replied, causing Abi to look over at him.
“What he said,” she smiled, before diving back into her work.

And suddenly orders and information was being thrown at them – causing Abi’s expression to best be explained as ‘deer in the headlights’. Oh sure – she was listening, but it just all caught her a bit off-guard. Then they got a message in Asgard on their screens.
“We have your populace in captivity. We have scanned the station know you can not defend yourselves at this moment. Give yourselves over to us and no more of your brethren will perish…” she mumbled aloud, actually getting to use one of her ‘why they hired her’ skill sets. Alek cursed in his native tongue, as Abi just shook her head. This wasn’t looking good. The Russian Ninja then turned to the crew, "Life sign detector show eight - no, eighteen silicon-based lifeforms entering facility and making way toward us," his words falling over each other, thanks to the stress that wasn’t too hard to read across his features, "Nidhogg invaders..."

Abi froze – her dark blue eyes wide.
“Whoa – wait. In the facility…as in, they’re on their way to be face-to-face with us?” Abi’s words came out a bit quickly, the nerves obvious in her voice – her first thought being that she was probably the only civilian in the room. She was so going to get eaten/captured/licked/killed first. Her brows furrowed slightly, her jaw tightening.
“Is…there a way to stop them?” she asked, only speaking in English for the benefit of the rest of the crew.

As Cromin tried to get ready for the space walk, Sam made another comment that was starting to irritate Cromin. "Good luck finding a suit that will fit that swollen ego." He wasnt quite sure if she was joking or really pissed off at him. He didn't see her facial expression when she said it. He summed it up thinking that it was either that it was that time of the month or she had a crush on him, he liked the latter better he thought.

Captain Cromin had barely put his suit on preparing for his space walk with Nolen when he heard of an invasion force. He quickly waived to Alek again to help remove the top of the space suit and as he waited he said "Did someone just say we have an invasion force on their way here, Colonel, Dragon and I have been in a firefight with these aliens before, bullets will not do much sir but we brought enough explosives that will do some major damage. Permission to help mount an offensive as you see fit sir, what are your orders?"

Cromin waited for a response from either of his senior officers.

Having located the console he required and then being told their was no power was a huge blow, but in an effort to seem useful he knelt down, pulled of the panel and had a poke about inside, not entirely sure what everything was but a least he wasn't standing round looking useless.

His attention was then caught by Col. Harrison asking for a scan of the area he pulled his head out in time to hear him announce that their was still a ship out there and he assumed, like himself, that the rest of the crew were still aboard, and asked for suggestions of how to get them out. "How about we beam on to Niddhog ship, grab the crew and then beam out again, if we can get enough power of course." Was Simon's suggestion, moments later a message came through, he couldn't read Asgard so had to wait for the translation, the Niddhog had their people and were demanding their surrender.

"Well sir, like I've said if we get aboard the ship it opens up possibility's for us to rescue the crew, if we try dig in here we'll just get blasted to pieces and those on the ship will be killed, now their demands give us an option, we could appear to surrender which will get us aboard, now we've got people with us that have been brought onto the ship and made it of which increases our survival chances, I say we take our chances over there." In his mind this was the only sensible course of action, they were dived, out maneuvered and, out gunned. This would give them a chance to re-group and pool their many talents.

Hearing Lieutenant Davidson speak brought memories of their previous encounter with the Nid as Cromin called them. Cromin who was listening to Davidson's every word nodded in acknoledgement of Davidson's plan. Davidson said "Well sir, like I've said if we get aboard the ship it opens up possibility's for us to rescue the crew, if we try dig in here we'll just get blasted to pieces and those on the ship will be killed, now their demands give us an option, we could appear to surrender which will get us aboard, now we've got people with us that have been brought onto the ship and made it of which increases our survival chances, I say we take our chances over there."

Cromin in acknowledgement of Davidson's plan said "I agree sir both our plans combined I believe should give us what we want. These aliens are information hogs, they are not here to kill us sir, they want all the information we have first and this buys all of us much needed time. If they dont have a queen onboard then even more time, because they have to take us to one. I believe we cant allow this facility fall into their hands, i suggest we have this place wired up quickly and slow them down by putting up a minimal defense, then they are forced to take us and whatever equipment we have on and around us with them to their ship. This gets us and our equipments onboard their ship. We could even place a tracker on our equipment that way we can easily find it as soon as we are able to find a computer console. This is another possibility except they are willing to take us and our equipments willingly."

Having said a mouthful Cromin waited for his Superiors, Harrison and Nolen's response and also he waited for a word from Blackwell.

It was these kinds of decisions that weighed upon the souls of even the toughest military officers. The kind of decisions that no one wants to make but have to be made. The kind of decisions that force one to evaluate everything in their lives ... "Our people are on that ship," Harrison began. "A rescue attempt has a remote chance of working, and if it does, what then? We have nowhere to go, no ship to escape in. And if we fail? All they have to do is detect us and they may start executing our people. Are you willing to have that on your conscience? Because I am not. These aliens are protective of their territory, but they are not masochistic. They're not out for our blood. They are beings of science and technology and they want to study us. They could have blown us away ... that says a lot. I will not risk anyone else in this crew unnecessarily for any reason."

He paused for a moment for this to sink in and inquired, "How much C-4 do we have?" When a crew member replied, the Lieutenant Colonel said, "We won't need that much. Set up a charge in the storage area of the station. It's heavily shielded and should absorb any excess explosive force. I want all our equipment we would not want in their hands to be put in there and destroyed." Seeing the looks on some of their faces, Jonathon said, "This is NOT up for debate. I issued a direct order, and it could be the most important one I ever give. I want everyone to help with it, and make it fast, they're almost here!"

As he helped the Captain into his space suit, Kamarov heard Miss Ely speak to him in Russian. "<A true genius is always nude,"> Abi replied. "<Or maybe they just have evolved to the point where the can run around naked. Since they really don’t have any discernable ‘parts’ to cover. They are basically walking little dolls.>" Alek smiled. "<In America, you wear clothes,>" he replied in his native language. "<In Communist Russia, clothes wear you!>" It was an old joke, a 'Russian reversal', but he always found it to be comical.

Alek had been assisting Robert into his space suit when he stopped him, and spoke with the Colonel about plans to halt the approaching Nidhogg invaders who were making their way through the station toward the control room. The officers spoke among themselves, deciding what to do. A consensus was reached to abandon hope and surrender, destroying what sensitive equipment they could first. Kamarov was not accustomed to surrender, and left the officers to speak among themselves.

"<They want us to give up,>" he said to Abi. "<I have been prisoner of space bugs before, and do not wish to repeat the experience. Is there not anything we can do?"> He looked around the control room desperately, hoping an idea would come to him.

Nolen suited up and with cromin in tow he exited to see if anything could be done with the power controls outside. He reached them with no trouble and with Cromin helping began work. That was untill he recieved a call. "What do you mean they are already in, Oh this day just gets better and better. Okay I'm coming back" he said through the radio. The slow walk back felt like hours but only took a minute. He got back inside to hear Jon's plan. "Colonel are you sure, I know that we have limited options" but the look that the man gave Nolen told him all he needed to know. "Alright guys you heard the man lets get this ready" Nolen said.

Their discussion of smart versus naked was cracking the civilian up. If she was asked a few years ago, if she thought she’d be having this discussion with a Russian Ninja in a research station that was owned by little naked aliens…she’d probably crack up and ask the questioner if they had eaten any local mushrooms or accepted brownies from a stranger. Yay pot brownies.

Alek smiled, "<In America, you wear clothes,>” he began, causing Abi’s oddly round eyes to glance up at him from their work, "<In Communist Russia, clothes wear you!>”
Abi cracked up, shaking her head slightly, with the mental image of a pair of pants with a guy tied around its waste…oh jeez. That’s just…wrong…yet epic. Epic on so many levels.

“<The mental images will haunt me forever>” she laughed, her mind thinking of all the strange things from her home, “<Your clothes may wear you,>” she began, “<But at least all roads don’t lead to your town,>” she smirked slightly, having actually burned the book that was from. Cry the Beloved Country. A horrible, horrible book that was basically a rip-off of Grapes of Wrath – but it features Johannesburg – her hometown – as this horrible, awful place. Sure, it wasn’t the shiniest place in the Universe…but the book slammed it so hard it wasn’t funny. Like one giant ‘your mama’ joke.

Cue craziness of the world ending…or something like that. Lieutenant Colonel Jonathon Yoda (seriously – what was with these peoples’ callsigns or whatever? First ‘Shaft’ – now ‘Yoda’?) Abi blinked, wrapping her mind around everything, dropping her gaze as they continued to talk – her attention wavering. Being in ‘danger’ wasn’t her thing. She’d get over it…probably. Hopefully. Just give her a second…

"<They want us to give up,>" Alek’s husky, Russian voice pulled Abi out of her mental-freak-out-trance…which she was very grateful for. She was halt tempted to hug him – but without being inside her brain, that would probably both freak him out and confuse him. Then she comprehended what he said. Oh…giving up bad…
“<And we want them to give up,>” she responded, her voice quieter and less ‘woo!’ than normal.
"<I have been prisoner of space bugs before, and do not wish to repeat the experience. Is there not anything we can do?"> he asked, only addressing her by speaking in Russian.

That fact alone made her smile…just a little.

Taking a deep breath, Abi turned towards the console again, biting her lip, “<Well – we could play with what power we have left…it is only but a small amount but I believe it is there,>” she rattled off, “<Maybe we could overload conduits that are near their life signs, or send the power to the doors and just…hope Lady Luck is smiling upon us…?>”

She paused, looking at the console, before shooting a very wide-eyed glance over at Alek, “<We don’t have much time at all…>”

Listening to Col. Harisons response to his suggestion Simon was forced to agree their were major flaws in it, getting of the ship was the main one, which is why he's the CO and not me, yet. Destroying 'sensitive material' was an obvious but necessary step.

While sweeping the control room for 'sensitive material' he came across a console in the corner, he ran his hand over it hoping for some inspiration, being new to Asgard systems most if the markings made little or no sence how ever the layout of the system seemed familiar he just couldn't place it.

He continued his sweep like a dutiful soldier and had soon gathering up an armful of 'sensitive material', he made his way to the storage room, and deposited towards the center of the room the explosives experts working out the optimal positions.

It was on his way back that the vague recollection turned into full blown recognition, having spent the best part of this mission at the Aeneid communication station, he noted a particular circuit that was common to all comm systems, the emergency frequency, that station had to be a communication console.

He moved quickly back into the control room and the console in the corner, now he knew what he was looking at it made a certain amount of sence, and as emergency frequency's are use in....well....emergency's it was sure to have a certain amount of power for it to drew on hidden somewhere. He called over to those still in the room "Hey yous lot I've found the Asgard comm station and as far as i can tell theirs still power running to the emergency circuit, its just a though but they've got to owe us a favor by now, after all we did volunteer for this mission"

Outside, Squadron Leader Nolen was leading the efforts to repair the external power circuit that was leaving them in the dark. Even with the wiring fixed, they'd still be short on power, but it would give them more options and the ability to access and use more of the facility's systems. A dead silence filled the room for a full minute, and was broken only be a beeping alert, informing the crew that the circuit had been repaired. Now they were again in business. Kamarov turned back to his console, keen to do whatever he could to slow the approach of the Nidhogg raiders.

"<Well – we could play with what power we have left... it is only but a small amount but I believe it is there,>" Miss Ely suggested. "<Maybe we could overload conduits that are near their life signs, or send the power to the doors and just…hope Lady Luck is smiling upon us...?>" At the moment it was the best idea they had; the crew had few weapons, and what they had wouldn't be enough to slow down the enemy approach. "<It will have to do,>" Alek replied, and together they began to check over the subsystems now available to them thanks to Nolen and Cromin's repairs.

Kamarov started with the now responsive doors, and closed as many as he could between this room and the hallways the bugs were advancing down. The life-sign detectors showed they were slowing, yet sadly still managing to advance albeit at a slower pace. He could have normally vented the oxygen, but the Nidhogg were a silicon-based life-form and could survive in hard vacuum. He flicked off the lights in the hallways for good measure, unsure what the aliens night-vision was like. He added some blaring sirens just to annoy them.

He heard Lieutenant Davidson declare he'd found a working Asgard console; it's power must have returned when Nolan did his repairs. Simon suggested they send a message to the Asgard for assistance. "I agree," Aleksandr added. "Even if Nidhogg make capture of us we should sent distress call, aid in rescue efforts." Kamarov had all but accepted capture, now his priority was keep the time he would soon be spending in confinement to a minimum.

Marra stopped all weapon systems as soon as the Colonel gave the order, and watched as the ionic pulse showed the lifesigns of their people onboard the ships. A pit began to form in her stomach as she thought of the lives that could have been taken. How was she to have known, though? As far as she knew, the beam that flooded the ship had killed those on board...not captured them. When the message came through the comm systems and made it's way through the Asgard translators...that pit turned into a gaping hole.

We have your populace in captivity. We have scanned the station know you can not defend yourselves at this moment. Give yourselves over to us and no more of your brethren will perish.

Just before Marra let out a string of explitives, Alek spoke up. "Life sign detector show eight - no, eighteen silicon-based lifeforms entering facility and making way toward us. Nidhogg invaders..."

"Whoa – wait. In the facility…as in, they’re on their way to be face-to-face with us?” Abi sounded scared. Hell, they all had to be. She just seemed the most vunerable due to her civilian standing and lack of military training. However, it was beyond a doubt that everyone in the room felt the static of terror in the air. “Is…there a way to stop them?”

"There's the blow-them-to-hell option..." Marra said, situating her weapon in her arms.

"A rescue attempt has a remote chance of working, and if it does, what then? We have nowhere to go, no ship to escape in. And if we fail? All they have to do is detect us and they may start executing our people. Are you willing to have that on your conscience? Because I am not. These aliens are protective of their territory, but they are not masochistic. They're not out for our blood. They are beings of science and technology and they want to study us. They could have blown us away ... that says a lot. I will not risk anyone else in this crew unnecessarily for any reason."

"Study us?" she exclaimed, slightly losing her cool to the prickling pit in her gut, "Like, bunsen burners and petree dishes?? I don't like the sound of that..." Marra was not terribly excited at the thoughts that were going through her head. Best case scenario (and this was an EXTREMELY long shot), they save the folks on board, commandeer the ship, and make their way back home. Worse case scenario...plans fail and they end up the equivalent of lab rats. Then, when the Colonel ordered that all of their equipment, including weapons, be destroyed, Marra's eyes grew wide.

"You mean we'll have NO line of defense? At ALL??"

"This is NOT up for debate. I issued a direct order, and it could be the most important one I ever give. I want everyone to help with it, and make it fast, they're almost here!"

Swallowing every single protest that she had in her throat, she kept her eyes locked on the Colonel as she unclipped her P90 and began removing any and all technology on her person. The only thing she kept was the small knife, sheathed next to her ankle in her boot. Taking off everything else, it felt as if she were naked. She was definitely not excited about the plan of capture...she had heard stories from her father of his alien encounters off world...some of which included "scientific" studies done on his team members and himself. That was not comforting at all.

When Kamarov and Davidson began discussing the emergency console and the distress signal, she found herself unrelieved.

"That is if we don't get a busy signal from the Asgard...or these guys don't turn it off ten seconds after capturing us. But...as you know, I'm always the optimist." Her voice was unusually bitter, a natural defense to block out the fear that crept through her. Become hard...like a stone. They weren't giving up, of course. It's just...though there were stories of capture that ended well, there were a dozen in its place that ended in disaster. What hand had they drawn?

The last door before the control room in the corridor activated and opened. Marra stood by Alek and Abi, her comrades. The footsteps came closer.

"It's showtime..."

Nolen started to grab anything that could be used as a weapon and piled it in one area near the crew. "Arm yourselves" he said as Alek and Simon discussed their plan. "Colonel, Anythings worth a try at the moment. And anyway Alek and Abi aren't exactly fighters." he said in a way to support their plan. Nolen smiled as the two began their work and he got back to his. "Cromin, Davidson. Take those benches and tip them over here. We are going to be here for a while so any cover is good cover" he said doing the same thing to a bench in front. The items on top fell off with a clutter as he tipped the heavy bench over and pushed it with a heave to another he had done before. He formed them in a sort of Bunker type appearance with one Bench facing the door, one slightly off to the side and another which he had just finished putting in place on a slight angle to the other side. He smiled at the work and wiped the sweat from his forehead. Then proceeded to create another closer to where Alek and Abi were working.

He finished that one and smiled at Alek and Abi. "If it gets hairy take cover here..." he said pointing to the benches. "...It'll keep you safe" he said then He turned to Marra's statement.

"It's showtime..."

"Get behind that cover and prepare to fire at will" he said running and skidding into one of the bench bunkers. He picked up his P-90 and loaded it. He then waited for the footsteps to get closer.
