Episode Eight: Downfall (part 2)

Previously, on Stargate Delta...

Under order's from Lieutenant General Cory Jefferson, a Marine General who arrived at the Delta Site aboard the Iliad, the Delta Site has deployed three battle cruisers, all it's off-world teams, it's entire fighter wing and a Marine Rifle Company to the enemy occupied planet of Bactra to seize control of the outpost.

All was going well for the teams, but that quickly changed. SD-1 and SD-3's assault on the royal palace turned into a blood bath, with Colonel Walker hit by enemy fire and Doctor Chris Hatfield killed in action. SD-3 and the base personnel successfully infiltrated the enemy power generator building and have uploaded a program to shut down the generators, however they have been sealed in the control room, into which deadly gas is being pumped.

Under the command of Colonel Johnson and Commander Garcia, SD-4 and SD-5 were moving to knock out enemy communications by taking out their comms centre, but the team is currently pinned down under enemy fire. In orbit above the planet, the space battle against Olympian forces has turned in favor of the enemy, with Olympian reinforces having just entered the system.

That, however, is just the beginning. Following an assassination attempt against a member of the Stargate Academy, is has come to light that General Jefferson may not be who he claims. Acting on evidence uncovered by the students, the SGA has deployed SGA-1 and SGA-3 to the Delian galaxy to warn the expedition of the General's true nature, while the remaining cadets travel to Washington to learn where Jefferson's orders are coming from.

They were nearly at their destination as the crews of SGA-1 and SGA-3 began to prepare for the mission at hand. The news that they had to bring to the Delta base was going to be very hard to believe once the superior officers heard what the cadets had to say. It would take all of their training thus far to place the site in full confidence that the information heard and justified is solid.

Shannon sat next to Sean on the bridge of the Odyssey. They had discussed in more detail their plan to approach the leaders of Delta and hand over the information. Hopefully the Lieutenant General hadn't known of their little ploy and the teams could arrive safely and without hindrance. "We all have your back Sean and will stand by you to fully give them the information we have. We just need to hope that they'll give us more credit than to assume we're not just a bunch of kids trying to get attention from mommy and daddy. I'd hate to have to convince them by shoving a gun up their....

It was then announced that their arrival would be in approximately 3 minutes.

It had been a relatively normal trip from the Milky Way Galaxy to the Delian Galaxy. Nothing out of the usual had happened on their voyage and most of the cadets had used the time they weren't all talking about how to present the information to the General studying or talking with the other cadets.

A laugh escaped from the young womans lips as she talked to Jeff; her best male friend and now her boyfriend. The two had spent the last hour in the mess hall having an early lunch and simply catching up. As she finished the last of her red jello she laughed once again.

"...I can not believe that you actually beat my dad at a game of paintball. Man, I wish I was there to see the look on his face when that happened! He was the undefeated champion for close to twenty years."

Shaking her head slightly she leaned back in her chair and a wide smile crossed her face. She was glad that her and Jeff had finally resolved their previous conflict and were now not only talking, but they decided to give the relationship thing another try. The ring he had given her the day he asked her out hung on a chain around her neck seeing how it was too big for her finger. She hadn't taken it off since she received it and she wasn't planning on it anytime soon either.

Just then she heard someone announce that they would be arriving at the Delta Site in three minutes. "Hit me with your best shot!" Haha, she could not believe that that song decided to pop in her head at a time like this. Shaking her head slightly she turned her attention back to Jeff as she waited for him to finish the story.

The time on the ship had been relatively uneventful, and Jeff had spent most of it with Mikayla. Sure, they were on a mission, but that didn't mean that the two of them had to avoid each other. Their mission wouldn't even really begin until they arrived at the Delta Site, and then they would get to have fun. It was a proved fact that adults never took teenagers seriously. That fact had been being highlighted by movies for years, and how did those movies generally turn out? The teenagers were right all along, and they were usually forced to take drastic measures to save the ignorant adults. With luck, this wouldn't be like a movie at all. They would plead their case with logic and reason, and the officers that they spoke to would believe them. Already Jeff knew that things wouldn't work out that way, as they never did, but it was always nice to have a little hope.

This morning had been the same as most mornings, with Jeff meeting Mikayla in the mess hall and talking while they ate. Today he had decided to tell her a story that her father had sworn him to secrecy on. It just wouldn't serve him well if people were to know that he, a long standing undefeated paint baller, had been beaten by a teenager, Granted, Jeff was the best shooter that the academy had to offer (which had been proved through various tests), but it would have tarnished her father's reputation if the news were to get out. Now that he had passed away, Jeff saw no harm in telling Mikayla, as it wasn't like she would go around talking about it. He had been about t continue, when the announcement rang over the intercom. Well, it looked like play time was over.

"Well, looks like my story will have to wait until later. Let's get ready."

After Colonel Emerson ordered all SGA cadets to the bridge, Sean Connolly stood from his chair to look out the main screen. They dropped from hyperspace and the planet on which the Delian Expedition had housed their base loomed in front of them. "Scan the planet for the base," Emerson ordered. Sean crossed his arms as the other cadets came in behind him without looking at them. A siren sounded, and the ops officer announced, "Sir, we have six bogies rising from the surface. They look to be about the size of 302s." Nodding, the Colonel looked to Sean and said, "Cadet, get your people to hang on to something." Looking to the others and walking to the back of the bridge, Sean said, "You heard the Colonel ... hold onto your butts."

Just as the cadet major was about to say something, it was ordered to hold on to something. "Never thought I'd hold on to my own butt", she joked while bracing herself by curling her hands around a beam and spreading her legs a few more inches apart slightly bending at the knees. It would support her enough to maneuver around like being on a boat with higher than normal waves. Although, she was sure these bumps were going to be nothing like waves felt on the lake.

Scanning the room, she made sure each of her cadets and Sean's also had something to grab onto. The team leader was responsible for her crew no matter what and now their safety was in the hands of a vessel virtually on top of a place that was suppose to be a safe haven. But right now, the cadet major had her doubts.

Mikayla had made her way to the Bridge just in time to hear Sean's orders. Nodding her head she walked over beside Shannon and held onto the beam she was holding on to. Chuckling slightly at her friends comment a small smile crossed the cadets face. "It would appear that there is a first time for everything, Ma'am." She stated simply before turning her gaze to the viewscreen in front of them. Yes, the two cadets were practically sisters but on duty Shannon was her Commanding Officer; sure not of her team, but she was still higher ranked than Mikayla was; hence she deserved the respect.

She saw that the other cadets had filed onto the bridge in small groups; no doubt coming from studying, eating, or perhaps even napping. She heard something about a few F-302's; or what appeared to be F-302's coming from the base and Mikayla only hoped that they were friendlies. She wasn't so sure how to react to this anymore. This base was supposed to be a safe place, but now with the man that Sean thought was in league with Trust who knew anymore. "Let the fun begin..." She muttered as she awaited her next orders.

Of all the things that Jeff had never really cared for when it came to the military, the biggest had to be how they aways seemed to order you away from your food. It was almost as if military people had a radar that allowed them to see when people were actually getting enough food, so that they could stop them before that happened. As they (being himself and Mikayla) made their way to the bridge, Jeff noticed how everyone seemed to be rushing to what old tv shows would call 'battle stations.' Hopefully he'd actually find out what was going on this time, although that was probably just a false hope. It seemed like even though he was the executive officer of a team, he was still left in the dark about almost everything.

When they had arrived at their destination, Jeff noticed Shannon and Sean, the two commanding officers, seemed to have been hanging around up here. Hearing Sean's words, Jeff moved with Mikayla toward the beam. Grabbing onto it, he wasn't exactly sure what was going on. From what he had gathered so far, it looked like 302's were flying up to guide them in. Why then, were they bracing themselves as if they were under attack? Glancing toward Mikayla and Shannon, Jeff knew exactly what to do. If nothing else, he could make them enjoy the mission, right?

"Well ladies, thank you for flying huge military spaceships. Please keep your seatbelts fastened until the pilot turns off the light."

Izzy was on the bridge with the rest of the team. She stood off to the side, not really a part of it. If she was needed, she would go at it hammer and tongs, but right now she was not needed. All she was waiting for was some combat - she was needing that more than anything right now. She leaned against a wall out of the way, keeping to herself. She had not really talked to anyone since her bump on the head, and she was more than happy to keep it that way.. Who needed friends anyway, they were just something you could lose

Sean heard Emerson call, "This is Colonel Paul Emerson of the Earth ship Odyssey. We are on a sanctioned mission from Earth. Please have your fighters stand down immediately." the response came from the surface, "Transmit authorization codes immediately." The Colonel complied and the 302s veered off and sat on the port and starboard sides of the new BC-304 battle cruiser. "Odyssey, remain in orbit and await further instructions. Do not attempt to move or you will be fired upon." Colonel Emerson did not look one bit happy.

Sean turned to the cadets and said, "Well this is exciting ... anyone have any idea how we're going to convince a two-star Marine general that his relieving officer is a phony?"

[Michael "Shorty" Long]

BC-304 "Odyssey"

Michael reports to the Bridge as ordered and waits for further instructions at the back of the bridge near the door. "Hmm I have heard of the Odyssey but being on it is a different story" Michael thought to himself as he waits feeling tired from the transport from Washington to the location of the Odyssey.

"Odyssey now where could they be naming it from.. Odyssey 5 Television Series, or could it be 2001: A Space Odyssey Movie" As Michael's thoughts begin to wonder again not taking much notice of the action on the bridge of the ship but keeping aware of what is going on around him incase a briefing starts.

Shannon stood upright feeling a little ridiculous for getting overly cautious about the fighters. But, the cadet major brushed it off and was concerned that they could possibly have their mission washed before they even got a chance to present the evidence they had to the general below.

It was a long shot, but Shannon offered her advice. "This ship is equipped with Asgard transporters is it not? Why not beam us straight to the General's location? Sure, we may get detained for a while, but it will get his attention enough to HAVE to listen and give him the evidence we have."

"Well ladies, thank you for flying huge military spaceships. Please keep your seatbelts fastened until the pilot turns off the light."

Mikayla couldn't help but shake her head and let out a small laugh at Jeff's comment. He had become quite the smart-arse lately but she found it great. Glancing around the bridge Mikayla saw Michael standing quietly near the back and not far away from him was Elizabella. She had been worrying about Izzy for quite some time now. After she took that bump on the head she hadn't been herself and it appeared that she was ignoring Mikayla for whatever reason that was, so Kay had decided to just give her time.

Turning her attention to Sean and Shannon as they each spoke up Mikayla nodded her head slightly. "Sir, I think that plan may be our best option at this point."

Mikayla knew that they didn't have much option than to beam right down into harms way; but if it would help a bunch of other people then it was worth it, right?

Izzy drummed her fingers restlessly against her side. There was nothing for her to do until the decision was made whether or not to beam to the General's location. She came forward when lights started flashing along the console "Something activated the beams and comms are down on the ship. Permission to take someone and go check it out?" she asked as she motioned towards the door. Now would not be a good time to lose control of their systems, or to have hostiles on board, let alone both.

Upon hearing Izzy's words Mikayla nodded her head to her friend as she walked over to one of the consoles. "Someone has boarded the ship Sir, Ma'am." She stated a few moments later then turned to face Izzy and the other cadets. Since no one was saying or doing anything she knew that her friend had the right idea. "Izzy, Jeff, and myself will go check it out." She stated finally. "Let's suit up kids."

As the three of them made their way to their temporary quarters where their training weapons and tac vests were Mikayla's mind immediatly went into overdrive. A few minutes later the three of them emerged and began to walk in the direction where it had said that someone boarded the ship. Besides the three of them; the other cadets were all on the bridge; awaiting the General and they had all agreed to stay in radio contact every fifteen minutes. "This should be fun.." She mumbled as she took point and began to search the area. Hearing something in the next hallway over she held up her fist for the group to stop.

"Looks like we've got company; set weapons to maximum stun."

Izzy nodded her head at Mikayla and Jeff, acknowledging their presence in going with her, and fell in behind the two of them to go get their tacsets, vests and weapons. She adjusted her vest as they neared the room where the beam had been sent. They came to a stop as a sound was heard within, and Izzy flicked the safety off her weapon and switched to maximum stun. "oh yeah a real riot" Izzy said dryly as she made her way towards the door.
