Episode Seventeen: Protocol and Deceit

A vacation is exactly what the former medical officer needed. After everything placed upon the shoulders of the young woman, this was the perfect spot to unwind, relax, and enjoy the comforts of being waited on hand and foot for two wonderful weeks. The weather was a steamy 95 degrees, but with the coastal waters and breeze, it felt like the mid 70s. Katrina was already on her way with a decent looking tan filling out the rest of her bikini ridden figure. Onlookers couldn’t help but give this gorgeous woman a second glace as she strolled along the beach barefoot and just care free. Thoughts implemented the mind of everyone and everything lost back at the Delta site. But Katrina wasn’t going to allow for those things to boggle down now. No way, she had two weeks of pure enjoyment ahead of her and she wasn’t going to waste anytime.

There was a place waiting. The Dolphin Discovery was something of a dream since childhood and tomorrow would be the day the former officer would enjoy time in the presence of the most mystical and peaceful creatures she’s always grown to love. Even peering out into the ocean, a school of wild ones were rhthymically jumping small hoops to make a path down the shoreline. Kat couldn’t help but stand in awe as the dampened sand squished through soaked toes. The white suds of the ocean’s current was warm and refreshing, but the site of the dolphins was even more profound. A tear trickled down her cheek. It was purely a beautiful site that touched the soul. Could her day become any better than it already had?

The crowded beach and its scantily-clad patrons was an amazing contrast to the close quarters, regulations, and pressure of command within the Stargate Program. Plodding through the amazingly white and smooth sand, Robert was the most relaxed he had been in years. It took two days for Walker, Logan, and the others rescued from Tartaros to find the rest of the Delta Site’s survivors holed up with their allies on Nemea. They were the last of the living personnel to make it their. The devastation was horrible. Over fifty personnel were killed either in the initial defense of the base (in the air or on the ground) or in the explosion when the bomb destroyed the Delta Site. The Iliad picked the remaining personnel up on Nemea three weeks later and ferried them back to Earth. Walker himself was currently awaiting the results of his court martial, and he could think of no better place to spend the time off than with Katrina.

They had agreed to meet around this spot, and a smile came to his face as he spotted her. The two had secured their relationship in the month since the evacuation, and neither were afraid of the future any longer, regardless of the outcome of their professional lives. Stepping up behind her as she faced the ocean, the older man wrapped his arms around her from the back, pulling her to him and kissing her neck gently. “Good morning love,” he whispered softly in her ear.

A small intense wave of white suds covered the ankles as the dolphins continued their trek across the shoreline. The beach seemed barren of other occupants making this experience more peaceful and enjoyable. A silent prayer went out to the men and women who sacrificed their lives fighting for the Delta Site. Their efforts would not go unnoticed. Another ordeal was plaguing Kat’s mind concerning Robert’s court martial. For some reason they tried to announce that he forced her into going with him and dropped most charges placed against the medical officer. Kat denied any such nonsense, but in return still received a basic slap on the wrist and orders to take a long leave. So why not go somewhere tropical and place the bad memories in a small box to be dealt with later.

A set of strong hands enveloped the bare waist of the major. A grunt of approval crossed the females lips as the words touched her ear and placed a warm blanket over the heart. Her long delicate fingers wrapped themselves around his creating a widened smile of relief that the man she truly loved with her entire heart had finally made his arrival. Turning to meet his gaze, Kat planted a soft returned kiss to his cheek. ”Good morning love? Mmm, I like the sound of that.” She leaned her body closer to his taking one hand and pointing in the direction of the dolphins. ”Don’t they look just magnificent..so free…so peaceful. I could stand her all day and watch them.”

But concern was still in the back of the mind and Katrina really didn’t want to see Robert’s career just end. She knew how much the military meant to him deep down inside. ”Any word on the ruling yet?”

Smiling, Robert replied, "That reminds me of when I was a kid. My parents had a summer house in Florida ... we went down there almost every year and over to the Gulf of Mexico. The dolphins were just like they are here ... it never ceases to amaze me what nature can do for itself." Aerodyne Industries, his grandfather's company, afforded some decent real estate and other amenities to their family over the years.

When Katrina mentioned the ruling, Walker's smile faded. No, he did not want to leave the military ... but if he had to, he would not lose sleep over it. He hoped. "It's going to be end of next week at the earliest," Robert replied. It was not a subject he wanted to talk about now, that was for sure. Glancing down the beach, he whispered to her, "Let's head back to the resort and grab some breakfast ... or maybe we can skip it? I'm kind of starving something else ... "

The subject needed to be changed or the rest of the trip there’d be two worry warts instead of officers on a relaxing vacation. Her thoughts did linger back to the interrogation. Placed in a room, alone with an IOA agent and his guard (who knows why), Katrina was told to retell the events that occurred upon her kidnapping. That word alone set off the medical officer and nearly rendered her court martialed or jailed right then and there. A mouth that would make a sailor blush was enraged with despicable accusations that were neither true or held any ground. A request to go on record with her testimony was denied, but was allowed to make a statement. She chose the statement neither mentioning a kidnapping only commemorating Walker on the job they performed as a team and the intel information gathered.

His body tensed up but released when the soft breath of his voice again touched her ears. Another tingle shot straight up the mid back feeling hands wonder around a bit asking for something to eat. Of course she was hungry, but why not increase the appetite some. Turning around, finally eyes settled on the man before her. Kat couldn’t help but delicately trickle fingers along scars from previous battles. She knew every inch of his skin. Walker seemed to have gotten bulkier than when they first encountered one another months prior and the change was not only good, but extremely satisfying to brown eyes staring back. A soft moan escaped feeling the warmth of his muscles slowly increase in their tension around the waist. Curling fingers pulled in the neck first giving a short sensual kiss to the lips then tracing them along the jawline to the ear. Nibbling softly, heart rates were increasing and the sun’s temperature was no match for the internal flame building within two officers. Pulling away, a grin gently grew with a more seductive glance back to her partner. ”I say something else first, then breakfast.”

Fast forwarding to nighttime since the rest of the day is NOT for young viewers eyes. Use the imagination.

The Resort harbored four different restaurants with cuisines ranging from Italian to Mexican to Chinese and American. The most exquisite of them was the Italian Bistro that offered candlelit dinners for couples only. Inside the restaurant its decor was reminded of an old Sicily with brickwork and art fluent along the walls. Katrina bought a special dress only days before as a small surprise only hoping that her efforts were worth the price tag. For this dinner, it was planned to meet there as though arriving separately. It gave them an hour or so of just personal time for preparations. Any more time spent with each other and there wouldn’t be any muscles left for walking. A smile cascaded elegance across the major remembering the entire day and just how perfect everything was going…for once. No expeditions to suddenly take him away from her and no medical emergencies. It was all their moment, their time and Kat wouldn’t have traded it for anything.

Standing on a balcony with a wine glass half full of Late Harvest Riesling, arms crossed over the wooden banister feeling the night breeze just kiss up against rosy cheeks. The view was just remarkable, something she would cherish for all eternity. As the sun's colors gave their masterpiece print along the ocean skyline, a contented sigh released. "It's so beautiful here."

The view of the multi-colored sunset was breathtakingly beautiful in the evening's horizon. Half-set now, the sun appeared gigantically out of proportion compared to normal. Turning to Katrina, he spoke, "I've been to countless worlds in countless settings countless times. I've crossed countless seas and beaches, forests and deserts ... and nothing compares to the beauty in front of me now." She turned to look at him, likely to agree, when her face changed. She no doubt thought he meant the setting, and realized he was speaking of her.

Smiling, Robert took her free hand and leaned in, kissing her lightly on her lips. At that moment, a waiter came over to them and announced that their table was ready. Taking her hand, Robert guided her to the candle-lite table and pulled her chair out for her, waiting patiently.

The voice from behind sent familiar shivers of anticipation to waver through the bones of the medical officer. Kat stood there almost finished with her glass of wine. The words he spoke had brown eyes staring out into the night watching the glowing moon just give light to the flickering stars around. They did indeed travel to many worlds and experienced many tribulations…..Oh, he’s talking about me. His eyes were staring into hers. The kiss was returned and the thought passed through Katrina’s mind, this must all be a dream. Everything was going so perfectly and Robert was acting differently. But, it was a personality and softness that would never be hindered in coming out when they were alone. It was the first time they actually spent time together, quality time, without the worries of lives on the line.

Following him to the table, the candle lit aroma was the perfect touch as a chair was pulled out for the tall brunette. Her chocolate gown swirled around shapely legs as the major glided around the chair but not before delicately laying on another long kiss to her soul mate, her dream. ”Thank you” came out softly tucking her ruffles and scooping down to be seated. Watching him sit across from her, the waiter had arrived asking if there would be any other cocktails ordered. Kat gave a small no thank you, but was sure that Robert might want something to take the edge off.
