Captain Dominic Evans stepped through the gate with a smile on his face. The rest of his team followed, having prepared back on board the ship in the temporary gate room for their first mission together. His career had been building up to this, and he was glad he had finally cut it all the way to this rank, leading his own off world team. He checked all his gear, his P90, flack jacket, his Stargate Command provided off world DPMs, grenades and C4, radio, utility pockets and of course, military cap.
The mission was simple. If the Delian Expedition was to regain a foothold in this galaxy, they needed allies, and they needed a base. This was an exploration mission, the team was to meet and greet the locals of what the malp had revealed to be a fairly advanced world. Intel reports say that the French group had set up shop here as well, signing an allegiance with these locals. This rouge French element had been popping up all over the place, there were reports of the French being seen in Pegasus and off world Milky Way planets as well. Evans didn't know the full political history behind this but he did know that he had to tread lightly.
The new SD Team Captain nodded to his team as the stepped through the gate.
"Alright team, safety's on at all times. Lets act like we're treading on thin ice here, we know nothing of these French guys and we don't want to blow it with the others either."
He turned and approached an envoy who had been awaiting their arrival.
They had come out of the gate into an open area, steps led down from the Stargate and several important French and Gerobalions alike had gathered near the Stargate. Should the team look up at the building just across the lush grass from the Gate, they would be shocked. Evans gazed upward as he approached the men a few meters from the Gate, beginning to worry as he could not speak a lick of French. He saw a magnificent building, made of chromes, glass and all sorts of impressive materials, and atop the building, protruding from it's center... Was definitely a sight worth seeing. A replica of none other than the Eiffel Tower. Evans smiled, he went and shook hands with the envoy.
Evans and the envoy spoke for a good ten minutes whilst the team exchanged words between themselves, he then waved and ushered the team to come over and follow as the envoy began to lead them over the grass toward the building. Things appeared to be fairly pleasant so far.
