Never in a million year would she ever think that being on Earth was really weird. Spend a year away from it and that's what you get. Not that anyone here would understand that. As far as her old professors were concerned, she was off doing her post doctoral research; which wasn't entirely false, she just hadn't foreseen her advancement to such a high position in the expedition. This was part of the reason, Cara has decided to leave the Delta Expedition when she was offered a team with Homeworld security. She just needed to get back to some of her academic research.
It was all bitter sweet though, coming to these conferences, hearing about the research of others on the theories of astrophysics and cosmology. All she had been hear all day were theories, when she knew the facts. She wasn't even going to go to this conference if it wasn't for the invitation from professor she did her doctoral under, he was giving a lecture that was wrapping up at that moment.
Cara had a pad of paper on her lab while she listened to the speaker, she took down odd notes here and there. It figures that she would use her vacation time to go to these sorts of events. Sure, Cara was back on Earth, but she had been spending most of her time in the States with her team. So she had a few weeks to her self to go back home to England, back to her empty home. Cara's mother had decided to take a few years and just travel the world, so the manor was all hers.
As Cara's mind wondered, her eye caught someone a couple rows in front of her. There was just something familiar about the back of the guy's head, something she just couldn't place. As the lecture came to a close, and people started applauding, she silently wished the guy would turn, just to see if she knew him or not. Most likely if was just some random person, but her curiosity could not let it go.
