Episode Fifteen: Exodus (Part One)

Joe was about to respond to Connolly when thankfully Charlie walked into the room. Joe was thankful because he didn't want a power struggle or to try and take command of something that he was new to. So Charlie started off with the mission, Joe could tell he had some command experience.

So the team started looking at video footage and doing various projects looking for the team leader. What really interested Joe was the fact that Harris kept lighting up the Hara'Kesh, the reason this interested him was that Harris should not have been able to do it unless he used to have a snake in his head or he had one because their was no way else for Joe to explain it. "Harris I don't mean to be rude but their is no way you should be able to light that up, their is no way I am giving off enough residual energy from blood you to keep doing that and I know you don't have a snake in your head for a fact so must be something else going on" Joe knew that Harris couldn't have a snake in his head or he could feel it.

That's when Cara walked in. Joe spined around and was shocked. "Cara?"

"Joe? What are you doing here." she greeted him with a hug, all past conflicts forgotten. "How have you...is that a ribbon device?"

Joe hugged her back and then answered her question "Actually its a Hara'Kesh but you are an expert of Olympian technology so I understand how you could make a mistake but it does work on the same principal of having Naquadah but it seems to be responding to Harris here but he has no Naquadah in his system by an chance could you tell us why?" he asked knowing that Cara would be able to figure it out as she was the smartest person he knew.

Joe? What are you doing here? How have you...is that a ribbon device?

Dr Coyle's reappearance came as a shock. They had been brainstorming about how to find and rescue her. Her eyes lit up when she saw the device in Mark's hand.

Dr Coyle, the Major is right. I put it on my hand as we were on our way here, and this center gem lit up. I have no idea why. Everything was happening to fast for Mark. He got assigned to a special unit and next thing he knows, he is in Detroit, and his transportation is exploding. Aliens, bombs, and odd technology. It was just too much for him.

Cara crossed her arms and just gave Joe the look. "I may be an expert in Olympian tech, but I did work at the SCG a little longer than I did the Delta Expedition. You'll just have to forgive me, my brain's taken a vacation. I've only been in a car crash and kidnapped by Ba'al times two. Only to be let go in a manner of speaking. I swear, I'll never understand their head games."

Cara turned to Harris, "You're not the only one." Cara took the healing device and slipped it on, showing that it worked for her. "This I don't mind," she said referring to the healing device, "But the Hara'Kesh, I could do without working that thing."

Cara turned to Vasquez's board of information. She liked the way he worked, for she herself would do it this way. "Well, we know who's behind all this, we just don't know why?"

Joe was getting more and more confused as the healing device light up for Cara. "This makes no sense at all" he said dumb stricken "What do you two have in common that would make these devices turn on?" Joe scratched his head thinking of some how these two people could turn on these devices with no Naquadah in their systems. The Goa'uld made sure that their tech was only to be used by the goa'uld who had the Naquadah so that way regular people couldn't use it against them. "Well maybe these notes have something to say about it" Joe picked up the box and started scanning through it. As the team went back to work.

The notes were all in goa'uld so Joe thought he could read it but it was coded in Ancinet Goa'uld that Anubis had used. Luckily for the team they had a former Tok'ra who was a bit of an expert on Anubis's code and could make head and tails about this stuff. Their was all sorts of different names, places, events and so forth. Most of it was gibberish to Joe who needed time and some help to decode all of the information, then something caught his attention "Hey Cara I think I might have found something in these notes." The thing that caught his eye was an experiment "According to these notes Ba'al is trying to absorb the power and might of the one's who came before, so I'm guessing it has to do with the Ancients but what could Ba'al try to absorb from them?" Joe scanned ahead only to find several different equations, formulas and genetic code descriptions that Joe had no idea what it meant.

Byron listened to everyone talk for the moment as he kept quiet; only just graduated from the Stargate Academy he didn’t know that much and was glad for the experience people around him. Byron looked at each person as they spoke he couldn’t think of why Ba’al was doing what he was doing but did he ever need a reason for things he did? Byron began pacing around the room as he pondered on all the new information he just received but he was glad also that Doctor Coyle was okay from her earlier car crash. Turning towards Joe and Cara Byron approached them both before stopping just beside them. “Well if we know who’s behind it why don’t we pay them a visit and take it from the horse’s mouth?” Byron asked. Though he guessed that they where trying to get their facts straightened out a bit more but Byron couldn’t help but ask his question anyway. Looking from Cara to Joe then towards Harris he waited for a response from anyone before asking another question.

Doctor Stark looked intently, processing the information through his mind.
Since this WAS his first mission with the Stargate Program, he wasn't exactly very acquainted with the terminology and names.
Aragh. Olympians... olympians... Douglas tried to push the image of Greek gods drinking wine and throwing thunderbolts out of his mind.
Douglas' mind stopped wondering, as again he concentrated on the discussion.

Behind him, those with the tech knowledge were fussing over the pieces of Goa'uld technology recovered from the Peppermint Lounge and during Cara's escape from Ba'al. Such technology was well above Vasquez’s skill set - he was a psychologist and former-spec ops, not a lab rat. If information was to be extracted or learned, those in the know would have to uncover it themselves and pass it on to him.

Right now, Joe, Cara, Douglass and Harris had their hands full with the Goa'uld tech, leaving Charlie and Bryon to chase up leads at the US Army Ordnance Munitions and Electronics Maintenance School at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama. "Well if we know who’s behind it why don’t we pay them a visit and take it from the horse’s mouth?" Travers asked. Charlie nodded, looking toward Cara.

"There's little for us here in Detroit; the trails either too cold or too well covered over," Charlie said, looking back and forth between the assembled team and the evidence map on the wall. "We need some fresh leads, need to cut them off at the pass. Ma'am, permission to take the LT to Redstone and chase up leads at the OMEMS?"

Byron had been looking for any leads that he could find with Charlie but it seemed that they couldn’t find anything more hear. It wasn’t until Charlie suggested that they both head over to Redstone Byron looked away from what they where looking through. Turning towards Cara and Charlie Byron walked over towards them and stopped once he approached the two. “I do believe that Agent Vasquez and I would have better luck at Redstone ma’am.” Byron added in. Byron waited for a response from Cara though he turned towards Charlie and spoke once again. “I can get us a helicopter ride that’s of the radar into Redstone they won’t know we’re coming if you like.” Byron explained to Charlie. He reached into his pocket to take out his mobile he knew the best person to call if you needed to get into somewhere that’s of radar; his best friend Luke from high school now works for Byron’s father as his personnel pilot. Byron held onto his mobile as he waited for a response from both Cara and Charlie though he wondered what they would find in Redstone they wouldn’t know if they looked there to begin with.

Mark listened to everything happening around the suite. He was too new to whole thing to not pay attention. Most of what he heard, didn't make any sense to him, whatsoever. Excuse me, Sir, Ma'am. Who is Ba'al? I've never heard of him. Mark hadn't said very much, because he felt he was out of his element. I wish they would explain a little without my asking.

Sean had taken a seat in one of the room's chairs, observing the situation. His expertise would have come in handy had they went to rescue Doctor Coyle, as he was trained in search and rescue while in the PJ pipeline before being pulled into the SIU. To this point, it was clear the team would be fighting an uphill battle on many fronts, from lack of cooperation with other agencies to enemies with knowledge of their existence even in their opening moves.

Connolly's ears perked up at the possibility of being able to do something, but it seemed there were others working on it. Stepping up to the Major, Vasquez, and their leader, Sean said, "Let me know what I can do ... " He was a tactical specialist which essentially translated to 'muscle', but he had no trouble going beyond that role if necessary or helpful.

The team's plans all started to come together. "I can get us a helicopter ride that’s of the radar into Redstone they won’t know we’re coming if you like." Vasquez smiled I like the way this guy think. While the happenings inside the military were all but unknown to the civilian world, the flow of information inside the military was hard the imagine. The moment something happened on one side of the globe it was known on the other, and the moment a contingent of SIU investigators carted a military flight to Redstone Arsenal in Alabama, whoever they were tracking would surely catch wind and scatter without a trace before the team could touch down. An off-the-books civilian flight would give them the element of surprise, and Charlie had the connections to get such a flight clearance to land. "Let's do this," he declared, grabbing his bags and following the Lt. out the door.

Together with Bryon, Charlie walked across the tarmac toward the small awaiting civilian light plane. The plane was waiting in the quiet corner of the busy airport, away from customs, baggage handling and unwanted attention. Bryon's friend, an experienced pilot, had logged with traffic control that he was going for a over night joy ride when he was in fact hired with transporting the two SIU agents to their destination in Alabama. Climbing up into the plane Charlie was introduced to the pilot before taking a seat.

The engines on the small craft roared to lift and the plane began to taxi into position. Somewhere on the other side of the airport the rest of the team would be boarding their flight for Washington to find out just how high up this all went. Vasquez silently wished them the best of luck, and hoped to bring to them more answered when he and Bryon regrouped in a couple of days.

Byron nodded in reply to Charlie as he made his way towards the door. Flipping his mobile open he searched for Luke’s number; upon finding the number Byron dialed it and waited for Luke to answer the phone. “Luke buddy need a favor. I need a flight into Redstone Arsenal yeah in Alabama but of the books on this one. I don’t want anyone know that we’re coming.” Byron explained to Luke over the phone as both Byron and Charlie made their way to the airport. Byron didn’t explain full in detail to Luke as he was a civilian and didn’t have clearance all Byron told him that he and Charlie needed to get to Redstone for business purpose only. Picking up his bag Byron swan it over his shoulder and walked towards the door of the hotel room and into the lobby. The drive into the airport was quick for Byron he didn’t suspect it to be that quick though he wasn’t worried about it much. Byron waved at Luke as he spotted him leaning on the side of the steps that led to the plane. As both Byron and Charlie boarded the plane Byron turned towards Charlie as Luke closed the door to the plane. “Charlie this is Luke, Luke Charlie.” Byron explained as he introduced them both.

“We’ll get into Alabama in no time flat.” Luke explained as he walked towards the cockpit of the plane and started the engines up. Byron took a seat and placed the seatbelt on. Checking to see if they where in fact alone and Luke couldn’t hear them Byron turned towards Charlie as he felt the plane lift into the sky and head towards Redstone Arsenal; Byron looked outside the window for a moment before turning back to Charlie once again. “What do you think we’ll expect once we arrive in Redstone?” Byron explained as he sat back comfortably in his seat as he waited for Charlie to pour his thoughts out. They needed a plan and a good one plus arriving like this would give them edge they needed to make a good plan up.

With a slight jolt the small private aircraft lifted off the end of the run and pull steeply up into the sky above. Banking around the pilot - Luke, a friend of Lt. Travers' - set a course for Alabama, the home of the US Army Ordnance Munitions and Electronics Maintenance School. Charlie had only once been to the OMEMS, back in '02 when the SIU had looked into the disappearance of a number of Goa'uld stun grenades that the school's experts had been examining in an attempt to backward engineer. At the end of the day the devices had been simply misplaced, and after tearing the school apart they'd been recovered. Nevertheless, from that point on research into alien technologies was confined to Area 51.

Things tending not to go missing in a laboratory that didn't officially exist.

"What do you think we’ll expect once we arrive in Redstone?" Bryon asked. Still looking at the window at the ground below, Vasquez had to admit he wasn't quite sure what awaited them at the end of their transit. On the bright side, even if they found nothing they'd walk away knowing more than when they'd come.

"Mystery and intrigue Lieutenant," the SSA replied. "Mystery and intrigue..."
