En route to Ida Galaxy
Main Engineering
From a control panel mounted on the wall of the main engineering hub, Aleksandr Kamarov hummed a tune from his homeland of Russian, and watched the diagnostic readout scroll across the screen in front on him. As one of the few Russian personnel aboard the vessel he had the advantage of being able to read the original operating code for the vessel, not the English translation, which from time to time contained errors and inaccuracies. Although originally schooled as a aviation technician, he'd quickly become one of the crew's first points of contact when the translation the computers provided wasn't quite up to scratch.
He was a Praporshchik, the Russian Federal Air Force equivalent of a US Chief Warrant Officer Two, who's position fell into the blurred grey area between enlisted personnel and commissioned officers. He'd served as an flight technician for years with the VVS, before being asked to partake in their Stargate program with the gate his government had recovered from the seabed, following the crash of a Replicator controlled Goa'uld vessel. When the Americans learned Russia possessed the gate, Aleksandr had continued his involvement as tech support, and later work on the construction of this very vessel.
When the Icarus had been captured by Ba'al en route to the Delian expedition, the Americas had salvaged the ship, and claimed it as their own. A political mud slinging match had resulted, with the world days from knowing the existence of the gate thanks to Russian threats. In the end, an agreement had been reached, with the Russians given the Korolev, only for it to be destroyed on the same day. Out of pity of fear of another political confrontation, Aleksandr and a contingent had been assigned to the Icarus for her second tour of duty in the Ida Galaxy.
Ahh, the joys of politics!
