Standing on the flight deck, Tommy shook his head in disgust. In front of him was a sight to behold; the F-302's of the Icarus' fighter squadron coming in to land following yet another combat drill they'd just completed as preparation for their expedition to the Ida Galaxy, a return trip for a number of the crew members. But judging from what he was seeing, none of these pilots had passed flight school, let alone taken part in an intergalactic expedition!

What seemed like a tiny bump on touchdown to the untrained eye was not so tiny to Tommy. Where others saw bumps and jolts, he saw structural damage in the landing gears that would need replacing, stress fractures forming in the undercarriages, and dents in the flight deck he'd be beating out while the pilots sipped latte and ate scones in the officers mess. Another day of laughs down on the flight deck.

But this wasn't just another day; the Sergeant's patience and mild manners were wearing thin. He walked to where the other flight crew had assembled, all of them wearing the same expression of disgust he was. "Look at these air heads!" He cried, as another bird thumbed down hard on the once smooth deck. This was going to be a long expedition...

"Look at these air heads!"cried Sgt Lacey, "Ye fools if they don't take it easy they'll brake something" Calmara replyed.

And screwd his face up as another plane came in pounding the deck and cliped the wing of a parked plane, "time to check the damage" Calmara said as he started crossing the flight deck, as the pilots began climbing out of there planes ribing each other, Calmara Called to the nearist one "Ok, how many systems have you pilots managed to you screw up this time, you know you need to take care of these birds were going to be a long way from earth soon"

Destiny let out a content sigh, feeling glad to be back in the sky. After being base personnal for so many months back at Stargate command, she didn't realize how much she missed flying till now. It was like the sky was welcoming her back. Since the huge battle the occured months back in the Delta Site, Destiny transferred herself to Stargate Command. She couldn't really take being there after losing so many people close to her. Sure that was part of the job, but that was too much. She needed a break, needed to get away. Though once she heard that they were calling for F-302 pilots for the Icarus, she knew that it was time to come back. Maybe not completely to the Delta site, but in some compassity.

She landed her f-302, bouncing a bit. She chuckled lightly to herself because she knew that she had some work to do. Yeah it had been awhile, but after a few more flights in the air, it was going to be like she had never left.

"Nice going Des. It's good to have you back," A small familiar voice said behind her. Destiny smiled pulling off her helmet and resting on the dashboard. She was lucky to have her old friend Faye as her co. "It's good to be back Faye," she stated as she started climbing down the ladder.

She landed and looked around. She remember the times flying a baby like this with Ayden, Nolen and Lola. She bit he lip sadly. She missed them, the old times. She only hoped that she would get that close with these pilots here but only time would tell. Hearing someone shout at them as the pilots started filing out, she looked up to see the deck crew. She groaned. Here we go. The typical who's better fight, she thought to herself just trying to ignore them and head to the briefing room like they needed to do. She wasn't here to start anything. She was here to fly and work.

Idun mumbled as he reprogrammed the shields again. He was the only Asgard on this vessel. And well, it made him lonely. But he would never say that to the lowly humans that filled the ship. The vessel was going to his home galaxy. Idun had insisted that this would be a first step of Human takeover of their technology. And stated the Human's always used aggressive and persuasive tactics to beat their enemies. But of course the High Council did not see it that way. Idun had a seat there once until he decided that protecting species against the Goa'uld was a waste of resources.

Now he was stuck on a human ship, following human orders. He wished that he could be back on his precious Hákonarmál. She was faster, and more powerful than this vessel. And he would not have to listen to the mindless gibberish humans kept saying to each other. And the looks he kept getting because he was 'naked'. Human's were children, nothing more.

"I have recalibrated the programming in the shields, they will be slightly more effective at recharging and protecting this vessel from harm" he stated to no one in particular. He rarely let human's in the core room.. and he would never let them touch his console.

After making a deal with the CO of the ship Scott was allowed access to teh Asgard Core. What I could learn was what Scott thought as he entered the room. Inside Scott saw Idun the Asgard Engineer for the Icarus, Scott knew that this Asgard was no Thor but still Scott was just jumping to see the Asgard Core and everything it could offer. So when he heard

"I have recalibrated the programming in the shields, they will be slightly more effective at recharging and protecting this vessel from harm" from Idun

Scott replied "Really what did you do to them?" he asked hoping to get some more insight to the Asgards thought process.

Whenever anybody needed Andy Buchanan, assigned Chief Engineer aboard the Icarus, they never had to look too hard. If he wasn't to be found in engineering up to his eyeballs in schematics and plans, he was normally engulfed in a veritable spaghetti of wires and components, whistling contentedly to himself the whole time. For a first-class electronics engineer like Andy, the Icarus was all his Christmases come at once.

In fact, there was only one thing that would have made him happier and that would have been the ability to win at least a passing acknowledgement from Idun. The presence of the Asgard on board the vessel had initially filled Andy with great glee: the opportunities to learn so much more than his surprisingly copious mind had already absorbed. But unfortunately, the Asgard commander had not yet seen fit to grace him with more than a fleeting, usually clipped sentence or two.

Still, always a pragmatic man, Andy had merely accepted this to be the way it was and had busied himself with the never-ending 'To Do' list that was the lot of a chief engineer. It seemed that he rarely got more than three or four items down the list before something new took priority.

In short, he was genuinely as gleeful and happy as he could ever remember being.

From Engineering, he noted a slight change in the console readings for the shields. Within days - some of the team argued that it was within hours - Andy had attuned himself to all the diagnostics as though they were little extensions of himself. His electronic 'bond' with the ship was superb and he frequently predicted little errors and glitches before they happened.

"Commander Idun, this is Staff Sergeant Buchanan in Engineering - I note you've made an adjustment to the shields - might I be so bold as to enquire exactly what you've done?"

Andy couldn't keep the slight hint of snip out of his tone. After all, he was technically meant to be the Chief Engineer on this ship - and whilst the expertise and knowledge of Idun could not be disputed in any way, shape or form, he genuinely wished the Asgard would at least consult him on some things.

There was possibly even an underlying hint of quiet rage at the way Idun insisted on treating the humans on board like irritating insects.

What the frak have I gotten myself into this time? Calvin pondered, back when he first boarded the Icarus. Once again, he found himself in a place he hadn't gone to willingly. When they first started recruiting the crew for the ship, Calvin had been interested - considering his one off-world mission had been on Earth...which was honestly a little disappointing for him. Earth? Earth? That was where he started off in the first place! Now that he had been dragged off into another galaxy, it was almost annoying to find himself back in the Milky Way...but he had gotten over it. Sort of.

After he had been 'summoned' for the crew, he managed to end up having someone pound on his door, and escorting him to where the other Delta Site people were exiting for the Icarus...since apparently it was a day off then he had originally thought. Oops. At least there was no bag over the head, or random beating, he had calmly thought, pleased that his luck for going to new places was improving...maybe. He had been 'drafted' as the Information Systems Technician aboard the Icarus...meaning he got to play with a big alien computer all day, and tell people stuff. Not a bad gig, he smirked, realizing it would be more then that - but that was the general gist of it all.

Staring at one of the many readouts, he glanced up at Andy Buchanan - a Welsh BA man, who was the go-to-bloke for Engineering. Aka - the Chief.
"Uh..." he stammered, forgetting how to address the man before him, "Sir - someone's fraking with the shields," he reported, "In the Asgard Core," he tracked down, as Andy began talking through his headset.

"Commander Idun, this is Staff Sergeant Buchanan in Engineering - I note you've made an adjustment to the shields - might I be so bold as to enquire exactly what you've done?"

"Haha...little-naked-wanker got owned..." Calvin mumbled, not really enjoying having a genius-little-gray-alien, who lacked pants, walking around. Riley wasn't a big fan of aliens, at the moment - considering his contact with the only few he had met between his stay at the SGC till now, hadn't really been all-that-positive.

Tim walked on to the deck to talk to the returning pilots. He had been observing them from the bridge and had many flaws in their fighting skills that he wanted to discuss with them. Alot of these pilots were newbies and others hadn't been up in a while.

Walking in he heard the comments by the flight crew, and turned towards them "What was that Sargent?" he then saw one of the crew, another Sargent, harassing one of his pilots. He rolled his eyes and left Lacey where he was with out giving him a chance to explain. He walked over to Calmara, "If you have a complaint about my pilots then come to me and say it otherwise stop your harassing of them" he said when he reached the other man.

Tim was strict yet fair, His father being of the upper class in england and his mother being a politician. There was only one thing he could not take, it was someone picking on his team. He gave the flight crew a stern looking over and then went over to Destiny, "Captain if you will please call all the pilots to the operations desk over there, I need to talk to you all on your flight" he said then walked over to the desk.

Patrick walked into the flight deck he just came from the bridge he was informed that the pilots where returning from a combat drill and wanted to see them land. It's been a while since he was flying and Patrick wished he was up there with the other pilots though he got word that the Icarus wanted a chief of security and Patrick jumped in and applied for it immediately. Smiling as the pilots landed Patrick shook his head as the deck crew said a few words with the pilots it was an age old battle between the two and Patrick remembered it well. Patrick was new to the Icarus and to the Delta site he only had been here for a few days.

Patrick walked around one of the F-302 for a moment before continuing his rounds for the day. His next stop was engineering. Upon arriving in engineering he herd Calvin Riley mumble about Idun their official asgard engineer. He knew that the asgard treated the humans as children but Patrick would have thought by now they where at least teenagers by now seeing how far they had advanced; well with the help of the asgard. "What was that Mr. Riley? Didn't quiet catch that." Patrick smiled as he stood behind Calvin.

Tony walked upto a few of the 302's, looking at the damage the unworthy pilots had made to his fighters, "Just look at this!", he says as he points to the landing gear, "Just replaced these yesterday! They fly something that doesn't belong to them and moments later they destroy it!", he exclaims to his team as they continue to inspect the fighters.

He walks along to another 302, a large bump in the undercarrage of the fighter, he sighed, looking up at the pilot, "Silverwing, ever heard of the term.. watch for bumps? You have no idea how hard these are to get out!", Tony says pointing at the large bump in the undercarrage.

Tony swings around, looking at his team, "Alright people, you know your jobs, I hope you can do them! Lets get busy people!", he exclaims at the crew he had.

Destiny stopped when the Squadron Leader, Tim Black, addressed her. She listened then nodded. She turned and started heading back to where the group of pilots were hanging around when she heard someone else call her by her radio name. Looking over her shoulder, she saw the chief warrant officer, Tony Hansford, talk to her about the bump in her F-302.

"Look I'm sorry alright? I'll admit I'm a little shakey since it's been a few months since I'm flown one of these babies, but know this sir, when this ship is under attack, those bumps will be the LAST thing on your mind. I can assure you that they sent the best pilots here. I have worked under Lieutenant Harrison before and he wouldn't have accepted me if he didn't know I was one of the best. We all have a part to play here and if you don't like my role, then I suggest you transfer back to the delta site, sir."

Destiny stared at the warrant officer then continued her way to the pilots. The age old fight was getting old. She was here to do her job. Honestly, when she was in the air, the last thing in her mind was the damage on her F-302. What was on her mind, was kicking the crap out of the enemy and protecting the people on the ground or now the crews in the ship. That was what she was trained to do. After a few more drills, you would hardly notice that she had been out of the sky for awhile.

"Okay guys, the squadron leader has requested us over at the flight operations desk. Probably to talk to us about our drill. Let's go."

Destiny gave them all a soft smile then headed for the operations desk. She just kept her focus on the squadron leader, trying to forget about the deck crew being there. She really didn't want to start anything. She was just here to do what she was trained to do and really hated how people disrespected it. They won't be saying the things they are saying now once this ship is under attack she thought to herself as she approached squadron leader Black.

"They are on their way sir."

Tim was attending at the desk working out the new formation based on the evaluation he had done on the Bridge, he looked up to see how the pilots were coming along and saw the Crew Chief added his two cents to the argument. He shook his head and sighed. "It's time to stop this before it becomes any worse" he said out loud. He himself had seen what could happen if left unchecked.

He walked over to Tony and tapped him on the shoulder, "Chief, if I may, As I have already told your crew I would hold it better if all complaints about my pilots were directed to me and only me" he said in a calm tone to Tony. He then added to the chief in private "Also sir I wouldn't pick on the ones that have seen more action then most of your entire crew here, And yes I have read all of their files". After he finished he walked back to where the pilots were all waiting and obviously angry at the insults.

He smiled at them and walked up saying "Well Ladies and Gentlemen that was better but it still needs some improvement, I have your new Formation here based on the last drill. So please remember them as your wingman is your lifeline. Okay so we have Lieutenant St Savage and Captain Fox, And from now on Captain Andre is the Executive Officer, So when I'm not here she is your commander..." Tim continued explaining some flaws he had seen during the drill. He then concluded by saying "... Okay Pilots get some rest and something to eat I want ready and fresh at 1530. As this time I will be joining you on this drill. Dismissed".

He smiled as the pilots walked away, he then added before she could walk away "Captain, I hope I haven't giving you to much to handle as the squadrons XO. I received some good words from a few of your team mates back at Delta, Lt Colonel Leah and Squadron Leader Syaira both said that you were the best choice" he added as they walked away from the Hanger.

Leon exited his 302 and ignored the comments from the others direct at him and his fellows. Fox yawned and walked into the briefing room. His 302 was landed quite well actually, he always had top marks so they weren't talking to him and if they were they needed to have their eyes checked.

He smiled at them and walked up saying "Well Ladies and Gentlemen that was better but it still needs some improvement, I have your new Formation here based on the last drill. So please remember them as your wingman is your lifeline. Okay so we have Lieutenant St Savage and Captain Fox, And from now on Captain Andre is the Executive Officer, So when I'm not here she is your commander..." Tim continued explaining some flaws he had seen during the drill. He then concluded by saying "... Okay Pilots get some rest and something to eat I want ready and fresh at 1530. As this time I will be joining you on this drill. Dismissed".

"No offense to either of you but... She hasn't been in the air for months. I know she might have been here longer but I think I would do a much better job. Either way I will take her orders, just don't want any miscommunication." Leon shrugged and waited for the response.

Coming in for a landing always required one to be calm and cool, to ensure that it would go smoothly. It was very hard to concentrate with that idiot RIO badgering on about her flying skills. She seriously didn't know what this guys problem was, and no matter how hard she tried to get a different RIO, she got told she was stuck with this one. That she would have to make things work. Roy Belkar, fellow Lieutenant, just of the US Air Force as opposed to her French, was the biggest ignoramus jackass she had ever met. They way he had something to say about everything she did in the cockpit, it almost sounded as if he wanted to be in her place.

So when their cockpit opened, and instead of the normal chatter one would hear between a pilot and the RIO, a rather large, loud and heated argument was proceeding. Which probably didn't help cool the Deck Crew's flustering about the conditions of the birds.

"Nice going Savage, think you could come in better landing," Roy said to her, pronouncing her name the unFrench way, which he knew would only rile her up further. "Brûlez dans l'enfer, I would land just fine if I didn't have a whiny imbécile buzzing in my ear about what I should and should not do." she yelled at him as she climbed down the ladder, Roy still up in the cockpit.

"Oh cry me a river Miss Froggy," he said from the safety of the 302. In anger, Marion went to the nearest tool box, picked up a tool and threw it at him, "Allez s'envolent une poche d'air" she yelled, no doubt the entire deck able to hear. Roy ducked, but the tool hit the just below him, most likely denting the 302 a bit. Realizing what she did, Marion threw her hands up in frustration and marched on over to where the other pilots where conjugating. Marion tried to listen, but have the information that was being broadcast to the pilots by Squadron Leader Tim Black, but she was so angry at that moment to be bother to translate what was being said. Plus, understanding the English language with different accents was even harder that one would thing.

From his observation spot near the man door to the hangar bay, Lieutenant Colonel Jonathon Harrison shook his head at the arguments. The Icarus finally had a full crew, without people having to double up on duties. This also meant altercations would be made more abundant, especially with so many different personalities present aboard his ship.

Making his way across the side of the hangar closest to the operations 'desk' (really just a protected console), the Air Force officer called out, "Captain Fox, your objection is duly noted. However I will remind you that Captain Andre has more flight hours in the 302 than you have still, not to mention taking part in several strategic battles over the past few years. Her reassignment to Earth was partially due to the extent of injuries received defending this very ship whose decks you walk during the original Ida Task Force, an operation in which she lost her RIO and her 302 was unsalvageable as well. Hell, I haven;t set foot in a 302 in almost a year and a half, yet I got the job to command a ship full of them. Does it make me any less qualified?."

"We've got almost a completely new crew," Harrison continued to everyone present. "Tensions are high, but don't allow petty things to get in the way of your work. We're all professionals, let's start acting like it." Things would surely be different these next few months. Harrison was being replaced as the commander of the Icarus by his colleague and friend, Lieutenant Colonel Ayden Leah. This ship and the soon-to-be-completed BC-304 Daedalus-class Battle Cruiser Aeneid were soon to be assigned to the 2nd Strategic Fighter Wing, whose new mandate was a return trip to the Asgard home galaxy to assist in any way necessary. Harrison himself would be returning as well, this time as the head of the expedition and commander of the 2nd SFW. The Lieutenan Colonel had been able to have his pick from anyone he wanted, but some had turned it down. Nolen Syaira, former commander of the 352nd TFS, elected to remain with the Delian exedition, along with several of the pilots who had grown accustomed to the Delta Site. Some were still undecided, such as Captain Michael Deline, one of the senior pilots of the Delian Expedition. It's a long road ahead ...
