Nidhogg Prison Vessel
Hanger Bay --> Puddle Jumper

Outside in the hanger Alek and Abi worked away on their shared laptop, feeding commands into the Nidhogg computer system. The very basic interface program the Russian had written when they'd first made contact with the bugs was still in it's infancy, and he required the assistant of Abi and her linguist skills to fully exploit the alien mainframe. Despite having been a captive of the enemy for five months who'd been tortured daily, Miss Ely still did have a radiant glow about her, the one Alek had found himself noticing during their time together on the prison ship. Once they got back to safety there would no doubt be an interesting conversation over a cup of coffee.

"<I...believe...that is correct,>" she replied, her lines of coding complete. Without time to check them Alek uploaded them straight into the Nidhogg network, and grabbing Abi's hand the two raced back to the awaiting Puddle Jumper. "Close the hatch!" he cried as he charged into the shuttle, strapping himself in. He had been maintaining a mental count down in his head until the line of coding kicked in and knew things would be close.

The otherwise quiet hanger exploded with noise as battling Nidhogg and Ori soldiers poured in, exchanging fire. Right on queue Abi's line of code activated, and the organic mouth-like opening to the hanger opened up, exposing the hanger to hard vacuum. Air and loose rubbish rushed out the maw into space, along with Ori soldiers. Being a silicon-based life form the Nidhogg could survive space exposure, and they dug their claws into the organic floor to stop themselves being sucked out into space. Turning the bugs started the slowly move toward the vessel, their intentions anything but pleasant.

"I suggest we make departure," Alek stammered as he watched the alien draw closer.

Jerry heard and saw what Alek was talking about, noticing that few were in the other jumper as well; he faced O’Connell, “Go, go, go.” He ordered sharply. Seeing the nod, he faced the crew on the ship and knew the communication channel to the other jumper would be open, “Hang on to something, we are planning on getting here out like a bullet. Since the ship is going to blow once the detonator has been pressed.

Pooja looked for something to hold on to as well, but the only thing within her reached was her man. Holding on to Jerry, she was trying to decide whether the mission had been fun or scary. Perhaps it had been both.

The captain's heart was beating as fast as it could possibly go, all of his organs was failing and he was slowly slipping into unconsciousness. His body could not handle all of the advancements that had taken place all of a sudden in so short a time. He knew he was dying and he was slowly whispering "help me, help me." Alek and Abi walked into the jumper and Alek gave the pilots the go ahead to fly out of the hangar bay. Cromin barely heard Alek but he heard him. With that he said "Take me home after all, take me home to my mama, take me home to the land of the free and the home of the brave on my shield as the ancient Spartans did to their dead warriors." . . . and with that he passed out not knowing if that was it.

Cromin dreamed of the red, white and blue, he dreamed of all the fights he had been in with all his brothers that have bled with him and died. He dreamt about his mother and all his family, in his dream he said goodbye to them, he saluted the General, his father and walked to all of his dead comrades who waited for him at the gate. One by one he shook and saluted them and after all of the salutations. They shook him and told him it was not time. And from a distance he was hearing the Kim Walker song, 'how he love us' and with that he went into a deep sleep, a coma perhaps. What was going to happen to this young officer, unconscious and flying through space, the conclusion of his story was yet to be decided.

Kale waited and then heard Tim reply with a "Sure" then Kale watched Tim look at the field dressing that Kale put on Samarra's arm and then Tim said to Kale "Good Job". Kale grinned and said "I have only been taught by the best" but he was wondering on whether Tim had saw the way he walked into the jumper and was preparing himself for Tim to question him as well as look at his leg.

Kale watched as two of the Taskforce members almost knocked Tim over as they rushed past him "Gee they are in a hurry" Kale thought to himself as he watched Tim take Samarra's vitals then rummage around in his bag looking for something which turned out to be a IV line.

Kale heard a voice behind him saying "what's the hold up? What is the problem, why is the controls not responding, are we locked out, is there an overide switch anywhere, what the heck is supposed to happen now, we don't even have weapons strong enough to take out that door." So turning to see he noticed that it was the Taskforce member that was shot by Des back in the hallway then Kale heard Tim reply “Why don’t you just have seat sir and let me hava look at you? It looks like we have competent people working on the matter of getting us out of here.” Kale knew that Tim meant business so Kale grabbed his Zat from his belt and held it ready to Zat this guy if he caused trouble.

Kale's insticnts were correct as he watched the wounded Taskforce member make his way to the door of the jumper barking orders to O'Connell then Kale heard Tim say “Delay that order Sergeant! Captain Cromin isn’t going anywhere” and then Kale watched as Tim turned to the Taskforce member which is named Cromin and said “Sir, we already have two people out there working on the problem and you are in no condition to go out there and play hero.” Kale knew that a medic or anyone that is Medically trained can take authority over any high ranking soldier if need be due to a injury or any other medical reasons as he has watched Tim do this many times before as well as the doctors and medics in the Australian Army and at the SGC.

“As I see it you have two choices sir; sit down and let me have a look at you or you’ll leave this jumper against medical orders, getting zatted in the process. I really wouldn’t recommend that last option…” Kale heard Tim say in a stern voice and Kale watched as Tim took a couple of steps back and get out his Zat and opened it up a sign that Tim may need help here so Kale opened up his Zat and aimed it at Cromin seconds later Kale heard another Zat open so quickly looking he noticed that Jerry had opened up his Zat and was also aiming at Cromin.

Kale listened to the discussion between Tim and Cromin, after a while Tim lowered his Zat and Kale followed suit then Tim tossed his zat at him so catching it Kale placed Tim's zat next to him. Kale heard another voice which was Honey stepping in to help out "Boy that was close" Kale thought to himself as things started to die down again.

Kale noticed that Abi and Alek ran in the hatch of the Jumper and said "Close the hatch!" as there was a fire fight out in the hanger as they must have been located by the bugs then Kale heard Alek say also "I suggest we make departure," Kale agreed to that one as he just wanted to head back to base and have a shower. Kale heard Jerry say "Go, go, go" and then Kale heard as Jerry added “Hang on to something, we are planning on getting here out like a bullet. Since the ship is going to blow once the detonator has been pressed.” So Kale found something to hold on to in preparation for the quick departure after he put Tim's zat on his belt with his own zat.

"Ok let's get this show on the road" Kale said as he held on like there is no tomorrow.

1111 - 1114
Nidhogg Prison Vessel
Puddle Jumper

The queen sat in the throne room, watching the display of the Task Force with what would be an amused expression. Their time was ticking down til this place went up in smoke. A part of her secretly hoped that they wouldn't escape, but even if they all did, there was still one that wouldn't. There was still going to be one who's soul would remain trapped here forever. The face turned to the still fallen Destiny Andre; out cold due to one zat. "Any moment," the queen seemed to mutter it was now a matter of seconds before the timers stopped.

Destiny's body lay on the bench of the puddle jumper lifeless. The first time it had been since they all had been captured. Right now, she looked like the pilot they all once knew. Not the brainless zombie that was trying to destroy them all. Chaos continued on around the captain as unknown to everyone, not only their life, but her life was ticking down as well. The machine connect to the captain beeped, showing the heart was still pumping precious blood through the body. It was showing that she was alive; for now. Just as the last few people came aboard, the hazel eyes of the woman blinked to life. It as almost as if it was on a time clock.

A groan of pain rushed through the female while trying to sit up. Her head felt like it had been spun around many times, only to be shoved back; jumbling everything inside. Burying the head into her hands, the young woman moaned, trying to clear up the thoughts racing; the thoughts of both Destiny Andre and Renita, the servant of the queen. It was as if two people were fighting for control of this body, but there could only be one victor. Raising the confused head, the brunette glanced around to the others on the jumper, both remembering them as friends and enemies. Though when the eyes rested on the door closing, feeling the jumper move, only one thought came; the queen!

The captain quickly unhooked herself from the machine, raced to the door, but then stopped as memories of Destiny came flooding back. Why was she trying to leave, if her friends were right here? They were all safe, but from what? It was like someone had just had just awaken Des without filling her in on anything. Shaking the head clear, or at least trying to, the auburn pilot turned to face the others, with a look of confusion.

The queen watched as slowly the explosives were being set off. "Time for the curtain call Captain Andre. Let's take our final bow together," the queen said settling back in the chair as the rest of the ship set off.

The eyes scanned the others, going from friends to enemies then back to friends again. She searched their faces for answers, but none came. Just as the pilot started taking a step towards Samarra, remembering her friendship more than the others, Des stopped; like as it something was slowly her down. As though the wind on her back was coming to a halt. She started to open the mouth to speak, but felt like someone was choking the life out of her, slowly. No words came, no noises. It was like someone was just putting a cork in her, or slowly squeezing the life from her. The captain tried to take steps towards the old friend, but couldn't. The energy was being zapped from her body. The eyes rolled back into the head as Destiny Andre collapsed to the floor; not moving, not breathing, and not seeming to be alive. The one friend of the Task Force, becoming an enemy, now friend again, was down and out for the count.

“Oh crap...” Tim grabbed a hold of Cromin's upper body and eased the fall in to a controlled slide down on the floor in the middle of the jumper.
A fast check of his vitals and Tim slipped a sigh of relief as he looked up at Cutter, “He's alive, unconscious but alive.”
He wasn't happy with the vitals, but why be picky, at this point he was happy as long as they were there, at least then there was hope. Hope that the Doc's at home could put him all back together again...

Quote:
"Close the hatch!"

Abi and Alek finally came running in, apparently having had some success with whatever glitch that had kept them way too long.

Quote:
“Go, go, go.” He ordered sharply. Seeing the nod, he faced the crew on the ship and knew the communication channel to the other jumper would be open, “Hang on to something, we are planning on getting here out like a bullet. Since the ship is going to blow once the detonator has been pressed.”

Tim braced himself against the two benches by pressing his back towards one and his feet against the opposite one, making sure Cromin's head wasn't banged too much towards the bulk head.
Suddenly the cardiac monitor started to complain loudly and Tim raised his head towards Andre's position, 'Oh, up and walking again uh?' was his first thought, then, a few seconds later, it all took a turn for the worse though as the ship accelerated away from the Nidhoggs and Andre fell to the floor like a puppet losing its strings.
Tim scrambled up on his legs, fighting with arms and legs to get them to cooperate to get to the other end of the jumper as fast as possible.
The medic knelt at her head to check her pulse and breathing, finding nothing...
“$H1T!” Tim started doing chest compressions and shouted, “ASH! Need... some... help... here... Need my... back... pack... Then... take... over...” and then bent over, tilted her head back and gave her two fast breaths as he waited for his team mate to come and help out.
Would this mess never end?

This entire experience reminded her of having a fever when she was a child. Like there was a slight blocker between her and reality. It was a strange sensation. Blinking her way through the mental haze, Abi looked over at Alek – knowing that him being beside her helped the whole ‘focus’ thing. With a deep breath, she announced that she thought she had it. Alek apparently trusted her more then she trusted herself, as he tugged her away from the station, with the pull of her hand. She allowed him to pull her away, some part of her smiling at what reality was now shaping into. They were going to make it home. YES! AND – her favorite people were all alive – including the Russian Ninja who was currently interlocked between her fingers. They ended up back in the escape-thing, causing Alek to call, "Close the hatch!”

Abi’s heart beat out of her chest, worried that her code wouldn’t work. Then they would be dead. Hahahaha…yay nervous laughter.

The code activated – apparently working – causing the aliens and stuff go to whoop and fly into space. Hahaha – eat that mother frakkers.

Chaos ensued within the jumper – which Abi’s already fragile mind really didn’t need. The girl buried her head in her arms as she sat, highly aware that people were screaming and dying and whatnot. To be honest, she wasn’t a medical person, so she didn’t want to see it.

"I suggest we make departure," Alek stammered, causing Abi to uncover her face and look up at him. She frowned slightly, petting him gently on the shoulder to calm down his obviously on edge nerves.

Her dark blue eyes wandered around the cabin, noticing that Des had caused a reaction from Marra – who appeared very awake now. Pushing herself to her feet, Abi whispered to Alek, “<Be right back,>” in Russian, before drifting over to Marra.

They’ve got it,” she promised, referring to Des with a slight flick of her finger, before not being able to contain a slight burst of nervous laughter.
Marra…I think we’ve done it. I think we’re on our way home,” she smiled, still in awe of it all, “And for the most part, neither of us our dead – so that’s a good thing,” she sighed, her eyes half ignoring the chaos in the cabin. Her mind couldn’t take it.

The cabin of the Jumper still swirled as her body begged to fall into sweet unconsciousness, but her mind panicked as it watched the woman who tortured her began to move. There was so much motion in the already spinning cabin, it almost made her nauseous. But, she felt the need to warn someone. That was no Destiny. That was the enemy. However, her body did not want to cooperate, refusing to respond to the brain's orders to move. As the woman began to rise, the others were distracted by Cromin, with all of their zats trained on him as he proceeded to freak out. It was so bizarre. Maybe I'm already dead?

"Stop..her.." she rasped out, unheard by anyone. Pushing herself up, she watched Des stop suddenly, then looked around confused. Finally, the woman's eyes fell on her, and she took a step. Never more in her life had Samarra Blackwell felt such fear. Her heart began beating and the adrenaline coursed through her body, allowing her to push herself back towards the wall of the jumper. Her breathing became out of control, as she used one arm to keep the blanket covering her, and the other to keep her upright. Her eyes were wide and she almost flinched as the woman fell to the ground. Before she knew it, Tim was over her, checking vitals then performing CPR. Marra stood there, trembling with shock and weakness. She felt lightheaded again and tried to steady her breathing. It shook.

"They’ve got it," a familiar voice said next to her. Looking up, dizzy, she saw the familiar face of her collegue, Abi Ely. Happy memories flooded back for a moment. For a moment her mind couldn't take it anymore...it heard her friend's words. "Marra…I think we’ve done it. I think we’re on our way home. And for the most part, neither of us our dead – so that’s a good thing."

As soon as her friend had said her name, her ragged breathing turned into full fledged sobs. Before she knew it her arms were wrapped around Abi in an embrace, half to keep her upright, and half just for the contact. The first contact in months. It was all too much for Marra to handle. They had indeed made it. It was hard for her to imagine everything. It seemed so surreal. It was entirely overwhelming. The captain had seen more than most at such a relatively young age and had been able to keep up. But, she had finally reached her breaking point. She wasn't sure how long she sat there, clinging to the cryptologist...her friend...but it did not matter. They were safe. They were going to be okay.

They were going to be okay.

Abi was mildly caught off-guard by Marra’s sudden pounce-to-cling, but also welcomed it at the same time. Human contact had changed from something that made her happy…to something she craved. The hysterical fit caused Abi’s mind to jump to the intense feelings she had been burrowing over the past few months. She had stopped freaking out when it seemed like that there was no hope. Now that they were on their way out, she couldn’t help but feel the dry-face she had been holding onto shatter, as her eyes grew blurry. Tears that felt too hot, rolled down her cheeks as she held Marra within her arms – Abi’s eyes falling closed after a moment.

They were going to make it.

Not too long ago, it was Marra that was defending Abi from people that looked down upon her for not being of the military grade. She was practically the only civilian – though she was sure that the other blond woman was of a similar nature. Now that Abi held Marra in her arms, a faint sense of ‘you scratch my back I scratch yours’ washed over her, causing a smile to slightly break across her now shimmering face.

She opened her eyes once more, looking around the cabin of the jumper-shuttle-thing, watching the people who had saved them, as well as the people who she had been held captive with. All appeared tired. Cromin appeared to be having an episode. Des…was awake. Oh. Hi.

Their saviors almost seemed to be as worn as the captives – simply after the period in which the rescue mission had taken place.

Alek appeared as tired and as worn as her.

Her eyes remained upon him for a moment, before glancing back down at Marra, with a smile.

You know what I want more then anything? A bacon cheese burger with extra cheddar cheese, greasy fries, and a chocolate milk shake. Or…just solid food. Whatever comes closest to my mouth next,” she laughed, sliding out of the embrace slightly, forcing her messy hair behind her ears.

And a bed,” she continued, pulling her legs into the ‘pretzel’ position upon the bench, “Oh – and I want my warm pajamas that I have from home. Ahhh…and read an email from home,” a warm smile filled her features as she thought of her parents, siblings, and her best friend Cameron.

He was the only one that seemed okay with the fact that she told him nothing yet everything. The stuff that would get him shot in the head, and Abi kicked out – was of course locked away in her mind…but yet he seemed to know. It was odd…yet very him. He was her favorite-not-sibling. And honestly…if it wasn’t for him and his brilliant idea to become DJs, she wouldn’t be in a different galaxy at the moment. She could twist it to blame him for her months of captivity – but that was silly.

But…I’m probably going to go crazy as frak whenever I see a bug from now on,” she admitted, laughing slightly.

Home never felt so close…

Marra felt her friend cry as well, and for a moment, she felt closer to her than she had to anyone in recent years. Sure, she probably would have felt the same way about anyone who gave her a consoling hug at this moment, but who wouldn't? They were alive. They had survived the most hideous and bizarre tortures in a strange galaxy, lightyears away from home. The fact that they had survived was miraculous. A miracle above all miracles. Soon, the tears of shock became tears of joy.

"You know what I want more then anything? A bacon cheese burger with extra cheddar cheese, greasy fries, and a chocolate milk shake. Or…just solid food. Whatever comes closest to my mouth next." Marra laughed lightly through her tears, smiling for what felt like the first time in ages. Her arms were losing strength from the adrenaline crash. She let herself fall away from her friend, leaning against the beam protruding from the wall next to the bench. Exhausted, she began to feel herself calm down. Looking at her friend, she murmured softly, "I'd even eat the green jello from the mess at this point.."

“And a bed,” Abi continued, sitting on the bench at Marra's feet, “Oh – and I want my warm pajamas that I have from home."

"Clothing in general would be nice," Marra said, slowly adjusting the blanket to cover her more. It was strange, realizing that she still had no clothes on. Perhaps it was being around so many clothed people that she felt self conscious again. Or that she knew that her body was mutilated and emaciated to the worst condition she had ever seen that made her self conscious. Thank god someone had covered her with this blanket. She couldn't wait to put on a pair of BDUs. And underwear.

"Ahhh…and read an email from home." Marra began to close her eyes, and for the first time, she saw home. The beautiful rolling waves of the Pacific crashing on the shimmery white sand. Leaning against the guardrail on her balcony, looking out at a California sunset. Even walking around the corridors of the Aeneid, movie nights in the mess, throwing popcorn at some of the pilots talking in the front row. One of them turned around. The familiar face of the woman who now lay on the Jumper floor caused her eyes to snap open and her breath to catch.

"Something tells me...home will never be the same anymore," she said, letting her body slide down the beam until she lay on her side on the bench. Her eyes became heavy. Exhaustion began to creep into every fiber of what remained of her body. Just as she was drifting off, she heard Abi again.

“But…I’m probably going to go crazy as frak whenever I see a bug from now on."

"Raid is your friend," Marra murmured, unsure if she even spoke clearly enough to be understood. Sleep was overcoming her. Voluntary sleep. Not unconsciousness. Acutal, honest to God, natural sleep. It was the most at peace she had been in. The cabin began to quiet down. Deep inside, Marra smiled. She knew that when she woke up, she would be safe.

Kale thought that this was over and they would have a quiet trip back but as usual on a SD-5 mission something always goes wrong.

This time Kale watched as Des woke up from the effects of the zat blast that knocked her out and got up and was moving about until the explosion in the enemy vessel where as not long after that Kale watched as Des hit the floor like a bag of spuds.

Kale smirked as he watched Tim try to get up off the floor and make his way to Des at the other end of the jumper to check on her, after a while Kale heard Tim swear as he started to do the chest compressions in the form of CPR, Kale heard Tim Shout at him “ASH! Need... some... help... here... Need my... back... pack... Then... take... over...” Kale's smirk quickly went away as he grabbed Tim's backpack and said "Here is your pack and what would you like me to do to help."

Kale somehow knew the answer to his own question as he knelt down beside Des and placed his hands on her chest in the correct position and started to press on her chest counting "One, two, three..." and Tim was doing the breaths needed. Kale hoped that this rescue is not going to turn out very good, his main focus is to help Tim in getting Des breathing again.

1122 - 1124
Puddle Jumper

As Ash took over the chest compressions, Tim grabbed the back pack and dug out an Ambu-bag and had it ready with in seconds as the next interval of ventilations came, two squeezes on the plastic ball and then Ash was on it again.

Tim raised his voice a little, not wanting to bark out orders in the cramped area, especially not when considering the mental status of most of the passengers, “I need the defibrillator!”. Hopefully everyone present knew where to find the bright yellow box, and someone would do as told.

The surroundings then became totally irrelevant, the only thing that existed was the patient and Ash and himself as they worked to keep the blood circulating in the captains brain.
By the 2nd set of CPR, someone, Tim never noticed who it was, shoved the box containing the semi-automatic defibrillator in to his line of vision.
He muttered a “Thanks!” quickly opened it, attached the pads and looked at the screen, “Step back a sec Ash...”

Tim held his breath and waited for a few agonizing seconds for the command from the machine as it analyzed the rhythm. 'Ventricular fibrillation...' he swore under his breath as he saw the EKG and the machine obviously came to the same conclusion, then hit the button that sent too many Joules through ones body to be healthy under normal circumstances.

The Jumper was silent as Tim squeezed a few more breaths in to Andre's lungs and then there was a spike on the monitor... And a few moments another one... But they were just way too slow to sit well with the medic. It might be enough to keep her circulation reasonable stable until they reached their base, Tim looked at his watch and sighed, or maybe not. They still had long way home. Too long...

“Let's get this over and done with then...” He grabbed the necessary equipment and within a minute, he had the captain intubated and secured the tube in the corner of her mouth with some tape.
All he could do now was to keep breathing for her and hope for a fast journey home and she might make it...

1124
Puddle Jumper

With the majority of the crew crowded into the rear of the Puddle Jumper, Aleksandr moved to the front of the ship. It was after all only a small craft. The cloaking shield on the shuttle had been activated to hide it from enemy eyes, and once it was far enough away the ship did a 180 degree turn to look back at the carnage. A pair of Ori mother ships were pounding the organic Nidhogg cruiser with the energy weapons, though the bugs weren't going down without a fight, their launchers firing superheated chunks of plasma onto the slowly weakening Ori shields.

As he watched the two alien superpowers slug it out, Kamarov couldn't help but imagine what the odds were that the Ori had shown up just as they were escaping. It could have been that the SGC lured the Ori into the attack knowing it would allow them a way off the ship. Maybe it had just been pure chance or luck. Or maybe it was a higher power at work... Regardless of the explanation, Alek was glad to those forces had found each other, a civil war between the two that weakened them both could only be a good thing of the natives of the Ida Galaxy.

The Ancient shuttle turned back around and resumed it's original course. With the battle still raging behind they wouldn't be able to call for a cruiser to pick them up just yet, but they were safe and hidden from the enemy for the time being. Relaxing back into the chair, Alek closed his eyes, and began the first proper sleep he'd had in months.
